Living in Queensland, i was suprised when i was reading todays Courier Mail to find some "readers opinions" to a recent poll. The poll was regarding the selectors and the Australian test squad, and whether it was good or bad.

I read through the comments and was suprised to see one Brisbane Broncos supporters write that Lance Thompson should have been picked. Now, I am not saying that Thomo should have been (because i dont believe he should of!) however it did get me thinking straight away about Ricky Stuart and what players will "prosper" into rep honours next year under his coaching.

We cannot really include Gallen, because technically he is a NSW incumbent (played SOO 3). However, i started to think of players in our club next year that under Stuart's coaching would perform well and gain representative honour.

Immediately i thought of Greg Bird. I predict he will play State of Origin next year, and build on his strong 06 season with Ricky having a big influence.

What do you guys think? Predict away.......!

There is no doubt we have a very good squad and under the right direction any number of them could blossom into rep honors. I agree with the Bird prediction, however there are a few damn good 2nd rowers out there. But he'll bulk up more this off season, and it should all come down to form, so who knows.

Yes Bird is a good chance for rep honours in the near future, also I believe Simmons has what it takes, he already played City Origin this season. Douglas has just been named in the junior Kangaroos, and he could be anything.

Douglas is a certain in the future provided he keeps up/improves on the current form. Hopefully Ricky doesn't let second year syndrom creep in.

As for Simmons, he's got some competition in the back three with the likes of Mini and other NSWmen I can't think of at the moment. Easier task than the QLD back three positions though.

We have a great team for next year and I can't wait for the season to start. Ricky has brought much optimism to the club. As for State of Origin the usual will happen in that the mainstay will be chosen for the first game with the exception of injury or seriously out of form players.

If the Shark players are to get a mention in games 2 & 3, they must play as a unit FIRSTLY very well and be in the top 4 otherwise they will be overlooked.

i think under ricky breet kimmorley will be back playing SOO next season because nsw has a lack of good halfbacks and he will prospure and be back to his best and lead the sharks into a semi finals campaign:D

Yes Ricky was sacked by the chooks, and their new coach Chris Anderson was sacked by us, go figure! All in the nature of the job, I guess...

well with stuart at the roosters it could be a case of the players not responding to him after a while as their coach. i believe no matter how good a coach is you should bring in fresh ideas and tactics after a while.

Also at Bondi there's that underlying current called Phil Gould who has a fair bit of influence at the chooks. So assuming Gus & Ricky had that "falling out", that may have played a part in Stuart's early departure. Rooster's loss will be our gain! There's a lot to like about what Stuart will bring to the Sharks.

i was actually thinking this the other day...and id hate it cos it means dykes would be on the outer for sure :( , but hell, if we hav a nsw halfback our premiership chances would have to improve! and yes, i think under stuart kimmorley cud make it bak to rep footy...ricky stuart would have influence even over nsw selection i would say so his word could go along way for kimmorley.

I agree that Bird will have a mammoth 2007 especially under Stuart's coaching. He really is maturing well & would definitely be in the mix as a prospective captain as young as he is.

Dark horse for me, maybe not necessarily SOO or Aus but I can see him being the excitement of Hayne and that is Mitch Brown, I really believe with good guidance he will be killing it, he is quick, strong and has a go. Watch this space.

I also agree with sharkiesfreak, I reckon Noddy will make it back there too.

I also think that Bird will struggle to get that far only because of his competition, second row is one position there is no shortage of at rep level.

To name a couple Simpson, Gallen, O'Donell, Watmough, Mason, Matua, just a couple of my head.

Not that he isn't capable of it just will be hard to top them.

I would be looking at Greg Bird as a potential representative lock, as I think he is better suited there than in the second row, and it is a position where there is less depth now with the retirement of Kennedy and Menzies. O'Donnell has been selected there for NSW and Australia of late, but he is really a second rower and not a lock.

I know what you are saying but when it comes to selecting a side they will have too many 2nd rowers so they will most probably slot the additional one into lock.

Menzies? I didn't think he would be considered a lock? Also, he hasn't retired.

I think Hammerhead is the one who keeps saying it, stick Bird back in 5/8th I mean it was his position?

Other than Gallen we won't have any rep players. Though I do belive we will have a lot of players who'll generate some buzz.
