Haha, don't try and pin the arrival of Carney as the reason Kelly ****ed up and got himself dismissed. Kelly was already walking a fine line with off field incidents before we even looked at Carney.

Also, the reason Townself looks good is because Johnson is a freak of nature and playing phenomenal footy. Have a look at the Warriors opinions of Townsend earlier in the reason when Johnson was playing ****. Same even named him as the worse signing in the clubs history. Chad is literally the Robson of the Warriors. Looks good when his halfs pairing plays well, useless when their halfs pairing is having a shocker.

jimbob, normally i think you are a downy, but i agree. Any player can 'look good' when a team is winning. Granted Townsend is playing some good footy, but he is fitting into a team structure, and he is playing off Johnson anyway. The side would not win with A Townsend/Robson halves pairing. Yeah i know we didnt see Townsend and Carney together, but to be honest, i dont think it would have worked anyway. Todd was too much of a pussy when it came to responsibility, and saw Robson as the guiding light. For a 28 year old Carney did lack alot of confidence in his own ability, and youd think a Dally M medal sitting in a hock shop would have been enough for him to realise he was more than capable of changing games, regardless of who passes him the ball

Tagataese, how long left in his contract? He may not be in good form atm but he can be a real asset, I hope we re-sign him when his contract ends

I hope we re-sign him but i hope we dont get in a bidding war over him(with him). He is not putting in. I feel that maybe Ennis might be able to bring some labour out of the props finally. He will be our biggest asset in that regard.

Cherry-Evans, Cornish, Hodkinson, Hunt, Isaac John, Keary, Albert Kelly, Sezer, Maloney, Kieran Foran, Sandow, Morgan, Leuluai and Adam Reynolds are all available after next year.

Kyle Stanley, Luke Kelly, Ben Hampton and Samisoni Langi, Anasta, Beau Henry, Rob Lui, Sam Williams and Tom Humble all seem to be available for next year.

I like quite a few of those names, even some from the second list. And I don't actually think that a Robson/Brown combination would be that bad in the short term.

But how much difference will any of them make if we don't have a quality football department that has the resources they need and a culture of rigourous hard work and tge pursuit of excellence?

If you were one of the halves who is available after next year you would be looking to re-sign now before there is a flood of halves available wouldn't you.

I rate him highly, he may just not be putting in because of all this nonsense that is going on ATM, if we can get him in the right state of mind I reckon he is a great asset to have, as you said Ennis might just be the person we need to get us & him back up there!

God I hope your right, but at the end of the day, lots of cap space and an abundance of free agents are meaningless if nobody wants to come here, we couldnt even attract enough players to spend the full cap when times were good. So we can only hope for some change in the football department etc. that you refer to

In order of preference, for next year I'd like one of Hampton, Kelly, Williams or Henry. Shouldn't cost too much, surely.

For the next I'd like us to make a BIG play at B.Hunt and A.Reynolds (we just need to land one), failing that throw a line out for one of Sezer, Cornish and Keary. I severely doubt Cherry-Evans, Hodkinson, Maloney or Foran would come here, and Kelly... well, we need a no ****head policy.

The reason Reynolds will be available is because they want to keep Keary.

He won't be going anywhere.

People will come if you pay them more money than the other place.

A couple of years ago we were upset that Peachey et al were being poached by other cubs with bigger wallets.

These things go in cycles, it will be our turn and we will get players.

I think this year has proven players won't always go to the highest bidder, money does come into it yes obviously, if there's a big difference in the offer, then money would be the deciding factor in most cases, but if there's like $100,000 difference in the offers then players would be willing to sacrifice that to go to a more appealing club. We are in no way shape or form an appealing club and the only hope we have to attract good players is to absolutely blow the other offers out of the water and offer big overs. If it was as simple as who's got the biggest offer then Wade would of gone to the Bunnies, Toddy would of gone to the Warriors, Tedesco would of gone to the Raiders and Cam Smith would be a Bronco.

How many players have we had a serious go at?

Moga. We offered overs for him. Dunno how much the Cowboys offered though. I know it's not a great example, but if we did decide to have a serious go at someone else, them we would have to pay big overs.

That's one.

The coach comes back next year and hopefully we can start to get things in order.

Honestly, players have short careers, they love money and if we pick the right person out for an opportunity (people in a Peachey-like situation from another club) then things will happen. It's a salary capped league so there is always opportunity.

Remember we also have three of the countries best forwards on the books, plus Ennis coming. Things aren't all that bad. We just have to fill a couple of gaps in the roster.

Player managers are trashing us, especially with ASADA looming, everybody knows it, if they get an offer from us and a similar offer from someone else, their manger will tell them to take the other, they'd be mental not too. I'll be amazed if we can lure anybody else of note for next season unless we pay overs or if they have little other choice (like Ennis, he wanted to stay in Sydney and we are the only Sydney team that would give him what he wanted). I reckon it will be a lean few years on signing front unfortunately as long as ASADA won't go away.

This is the kind of thing I'm talking about though.

There are always opportunities to get players and there are always players looking for opportunities. Players will have their own criteria of what they want from a club. If a players wants to stay in Sydney and we are the only option, that's great!

The way you word that scenario is too pessimistic. He still chose to come here. We signed a good player. Result achieved.
