Learoyd-Lahrs anyone?

CANBERRA RAIDERS PROPS IN NRL MERRY-GO-ROUND
SMH.COM.AU – MARCH 12, 2014
POSTED IN: BRETT WHITE, BRODERICK WRIGHT, CANBERRA RAIDERS, DANE TILSE, DAVID SHILLINGTON, MARK NICHOLLS, NEWS, PAUL VAUGHAN, SAM MATAORA, SHANNON BOYD, TOM LEAROYD-LAHRS
Dane Tilse

The Canberra Raiders will perhaps have most front-rowers on the open market at the end of this season. Representative duo Brett White and Tom Learoyd-Lahrs will both be off contract, as will be veteran Dane Tilse.

It is also understood the management of Kangaroos and Queensland prop David Shillington, who is under contract to the Raiders until the end of 2015, was shopping him around to rival clubs last year.

Raiders chief executive Don Furner said discussions had yet to begin about new contracts for Learoyd-Lahrs, White and Tilse. The focus instead was on getting through the first month of the competition.

Furner also said the Raiders would monitor the progress of their young forwards such as Shannon Boyd, Paul Vaughan, Mark Nicholls and Sam Mataora before making decisions about their older players.

Rather boyd or vaughn. Better and younger.

So, with Lichaa going, morris likely to retire and IDG not going so well, who are we going to get as a hooker? I'm not asking who we want, but who are we likely to get? Will we just resign IDG? I wonder what the plan is? Is there a plan?

We know how hesitant the staff are to promote, so are there any mediocre first grade hookers off contract? Is there another Corey Hughes waiting patiently to be wooed by us?

Our clubs recruitment and retention policy on a whole is garbage.

Other than Gallen I cannot remember one player recently that has had their contract extended more than 12 months out from it ending. Guys like Fifita and Lichaa contracts should have been extended and upgraded in the first few months of last season. Then none of this would be happening.

Just talking to Lichaa on twitter and he says he hasn't signed with anybody. But wants a crack at first grade.

Because he would announce to everyone that he is leaving.

Yep, even if he hasnt signed yet he will...and tbh why wouldnt he?

Besides how much I love the 'hope theyll stay' retention policy, dogs clearly have interest, and have tabled an offer, but more importantly one which includes some sort of game time / succession plan. Not only will we not match the cash, but (as far as I can tell) we offer no structure either.

Im taking it that he's as good as gone :(

What about ben murdoch masila? Seems to have all the potential in the world and is still only 23, has 52 nrl games under his belt and sitting in reserve grade atm

Id take TLL.

Srama at hooker anyone?

Yes to Srama. What might improve our chances is the fact that it looks like Beau Falloon is the preferred starter at the Titans. Should walk into a starting role here.

As for TLL? Meh, if we don't get Bromwich or Grant, then sure, let's have a crack, might get him on the cheap.

I really think the game is moving to having smaller props and backrowers that get quick play the balls(bye bye Heighington). Gee l like Arona, we need that sort of player.
If we need a new coach, l reckon l would grab walters

It doesn't matter who we buy.

We could put Cam Smith, Slater and Cronk in our side and nothing will change.

What we need is a clean out from the top down. A Board that is not linked to all the crap that went down, not the old board and not "unity". I don't care if some of them are even there to be honest, but a complete change would be the best thing for our club. Start fresh. We also need to move the coach and support staff on. Again fresh start.

We need a coach that inspires confidence. Not a love fest because they will lay tiles or because they love this club. If that is an appropriate qualification then why isn't Snowman coach?

FFS this is multi million dollar business now.

Time we became professional at all levels and stop behaving like the local park footy club.

I am sick to death of the infighting, scammers, dumbness and ineptness of our club. Get with the times.

If all these people at our club truly love the joint, as they all like to keep telling us, then do the right thing for the club, the players and the supporters. Fall on your swords and sit in the stands like the rest if us Nuffies.

Mal Meninga was a terrible first grade coach. Forget about his Origin record, Hagan does the bulk of coaching there.

Yep Mal is a good person for the origin role where he just needs to inspire his team while someone else does the technical stuff.
