Developing youth can be expensive, coaching time, talent identification etc.

It's also risky because only a small % actually end up being good. So many young rated players fall through the cracks for whatever reason.

Just to present the other side.

People seem to have the impression that any 19 year old in a number 2 or 5 jersey will kill it.

100% correct. Maybe instead of trying all these quick fix purchases, the club should concentrate on development and youth. As much as players like Lewis and Gordon have been great servants of their previous club, the danger for Cronulla is, if they didn't succeed straight away, father time would eventually send the club aiming towards the bottom of the table. People like Rothfield can ridicule Gould all he likes but the simple fact is, Gould has a plan for long term sustainable success. What do we have?

He may have all the plans in the world. But if canberra sign mansour it shows plans dont always work.

There is still 15 other clubs in the market for good players all the time, and a salary cap. Gould wont have a team on young talent forever. He's displaying them now and teams will start poaching

We should be looking at MCcCrone seeing he is being shopped around.
He would be a good fit for Carney and he is young enough to be around as long as Carney.
We can then move Robson to hooker if necessary.

I heard last week that Ricky was looking at punting Campese. If they get rid of McCrone, does that save Campo?

It's got me why a lot of people want robson at hooker, he does everything at snails pace so we're gonna be even less productive and creative out of dummy half.

Chuck at cheapish contract at Koroibete and Taka too.

Seriously we have all these duds off contract;

Tinirau Arona, Fa'amanu Brown, Reece Davidson, Isaac De Gois, Sosaia Feki, David Fifita, Jacob Gagan, Nathan Gardner, Bryce Gibbs, Eric Grothe, Daniel Holdsworth, Penani Manumalealii, Sinoe Masima, Mark Mexico, John Morris, Michael Morris, Tim Robinson, Junior Roqica, Tupou Sopoaga, Scott Sorenson, Nathan Stapleton, Siosaia Vave, Jonathan Wright

Of the above I would like to retain;
Arona, Brown, Feki, DFifita, Penani, Masima, Sopoaga and Mexico

Letting go of the fringies and these players in particular;
Johnno Wright (say 100k a year)
Stapleton (75k?)
Morris (say 150k-200k)
De Gois (150K-200K)
Vave (75k)
Holdsworth (75k)
Gibbs (200k)
Gards (?)
Hopefully shed Ayshford too

That frees up alot of decent cap space, I am pretty sure we can throw our bank at the likes of Mansour, Moga, Taka and Koroibete if we are serious about quality recruitment.

4. Leutele

Not sure Beau will play again.
I know he said he wants to in RLW but......, so a spot for Koro?
Agree about Taka. Won't come to play NSW cup,

But I can here it now,
"Taga breaks the line to find Taka on his inside to race to the line".
