I've been a huge Sharks fan for as long as I can remember, and living in QLD around cocky Brisbane fans with their priemierships and their winning culture, I am constantly getting the piss taken out of my beloved Sharks.

Already this year we have been written off as wooden spooners with odds of $71 to win the premiership. The closest other team to those long odds are the cowboys at $41. I know our club has gone through financial hardship and could of been run better with the cast of police academy running the show, but doesn't that just show the salary cap isn't working?

When are we going to have a team that can serriously challenge for the premiership? Because I just can't see it happening, we just don't seem to attract quality players. We need a Mining Boss or Rich movie star to buy our club I think!

I still rub peoples nose in it! I put people off gaurd with how passionate I am about the club. I work at a mad rugby league QR depot and I am constantly getting ribbed and I am always giving it back. Last year we went to the cowboys vs sharks homegame in T'ville. As you can remember we coped a pasting in the 1st half but came back in the second half. I copped it from everyone for a solid hour then when Thurston missed that kick and we ended up winning I gave it back tenfold! The rest of the weekend and the whole bus ride back!!! :borat

it stops being a question that matters to me to be honest!!! .... as much as i want to see the sharks win a title, dominate the comps and become a feared out-fit it kinda doesn't matter to me anymore.. no lack of success will drive me away from the sharks, no lack of success will stop me supporting them or being a club member....no matter how far they sink i will be just as passionate as i would be if they won the comp....success would be sweet but isnt essential...
i would hate to be hanging around waiting for it to happen....as i doubt i would enjoy the wait....

Don't forget Hitman, in 2008, we were equal first and one game away from the Grand Final, and we were bundled out by the cheating Melbourne team. IT CAN HAPPEN.

We have been belted from pillar to post over the years by our finances and the media,

Yet we still rise to play another day.

That's what the Sharks spirit is all about.

Stay strong and BELIEVE and be proud of who you support, because we will have the last laugh

It will happen, It will happen

Up The sharks

The Storm were cheats that year but we choked hard. A full strength Storm was beaten by the Warriors and they only JUST survived against Brisbane the next week, then they belted us without Cameron Smith playing, and then they got belted 40 nil by Manly. Really it'd be very rich to say that their salary cap rorting cost us a grand final appearance. It was the bright lights, the big crowd, the Greg Bird incident and the injury to Seymour that cost us a grand final appearance.

Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story there mate. Way to be a realist in such a positive thread!

but doesn't that just show the salary cap isn't working?

The salary cap is not working because of the ridiculous rules on third party payments. The one-team-one-town teams have an obvious advantage because they can attract more third party sponsors and therefore pay a lot more to their players. Brisbane pays somewhere between $500k and $1m more than we do and this is within the rules of the salary cap.

I agree with you though mate. It's a hard life for us Brissy-based Sharkies fans, with Brisbane winning the comp every few years and the Titans constantly in the top 5 we take a fair bit of stick, but hopefully it will make it all the sweeter when the day comes.

Odds at the tab mean nothing my friend.

2010 Parramatta were 5 dollars to win the comp, they didnt even make the finals.

In 2003 Penrith went to 151 dollars at one stage.

In 2005 Wests went to 151 dollars also.

Both were premiers.

If we snag a couple of wins in round one and two we will be in to about 21 dollars and all will be forgotten.

In 08, no one gave us a chane against manly in round one, we beat them, then everyone wrote us off in round 2 against storm, we beat them. We came ever so close that year.

A LOT CAN CHANGE IN THE NEXT FORTNIGHT MY FRIEND.

BELIEVE!!!!

Ahem, trying to put a positive spin on it but anyway......But Melbourne were not at their best in those games, they were against us.
