im curious to find out what you guys enjoyed about season 2009.

My favourite game of 2009 is when we versed the Broncos @ Shark Park. One of my brothers is a broncos fan, so i was happy when we won that. the boys played brilliantly they went out there, forgot about the off-field problems and played good footy(especially blake ferguson and his hatty, i was cheering when he scored that 1st try.....that kids gotta future, lets hope he stays with cronulla).

My favourite moment was against the raiders @ canberra when paul gallen crossed the line to beat them with minuites left. My mate is a raider, so him and all my other mates would bag me out during the week leading up to the game...MAN DID I RUB IT IN THEIR FACES:lmao!!!

so whats your favourite moment of 2009?

For me it was the game against Manly.
Even though we were beaten by pathetic decisions, the boys played a top game.
They won in my mind.

I agree that was my favourite game also. How awesome was Gal's winning try!

My favourite moment would have to be the New Years Eve celebrations!!

In retrospect, my favourite moment of 2009 on the field was the sending off of Luke Douglas against Manly at Brookvale.

Now that I have your attention I want to explain why.

Up until then we had people from all over the Rugby League Community baying for our blood... there were calls from left, right and centre for our expulsion. Somehow, we had become the pariahs of the NRL and we were being attributed as being solely responsible for all that is wrong in Rugby League in Australia.

So why do I like that moment?

Because it was at that precise moment that the rest of the Rugby League community realised that we were being unfairly treated and had become the new whipping boys and scapegoats of the NRL.

To a (wo)man there was public outcry and condemnation of the treatment of Luke Douglas and the Sharks team as a whole. Everyone who knows anything about Rugby League realised that something stank... and the rot was not in the players or teams but the governing bodies and administration themselves. Everyone from fan to commentator to player were united in the belief that the Sharks were robbed.

It was completly NOT the Australian way... we do not kick someone when they're down.

I think we won a lot of allies that day... I see that day as a watershed moment in the Sharks history. Everything from there is on the up. We are building a new triumphant era for the Sharks.

We have come from the lowest of lows in 2009 and are now on a righteous crusade.

Tomorrow belongs to us.

Yeah there were a couple of moments.

The win against the Eels and SFP's debut was the first great moment. I was at a surf club with my mates watching it and we were cheering so loud haha. Would have been funny to watch.

Then the Broncos game obviously because we put points on and it was just great to see. I like that it was the 'baby broncos' but that was no excuse because we were even more depleted, and our inexperienced players really gave it to some of the 'next big thing' broncos.

And then I will agree with the Manly game. That was a coming of age for our squad. It solidified our spirit. The game will mean a lot to us this year, I think it was the most important moment of the year. We didn't just give up even though we had every right to. We fought against all odds and even though we didn't technically win, I think we bloody well deserved the win and I know which team sludge would have called victorious!

And then believe it or not the Rabbitohs game was also a great moment, great in that it was the perfect poetic way to sum up our whole season. We almost did it, but we just got beaten at the end. It wasn't through a lack of effort and it'll make the boys hungrier this year.

Last year really was hard and some of our young blokes got 3 games of experience for each game they played I reckon.

I agree 100% but I can tell you the Australian ways have changed in recent years... Allot of people are very naive and have turned into sheep’s that just follow the flock. But in saying that you do have to take into account what the media impact is on the public... But Im with you mate your right on the mark.
But heck I’m just a Grumpy old bastard that wants to see the Sharks win!

my favourote moment of 09 was the game at shark park against the warriors I believe, it was stapo`s try, ducking and weaving through the line, quick as, first and only time all season I stood up and screamed. It was a win we were in desperate need of too, I also believe it was porter`s first game where he became scotty f*ckin porter!

cant go past the eels game after weeks of getting beat, humiliating off field dramas involving the club, that win and the celebrations after it were golden.
