Legit forgot the Champions Trophy was on straight after the Sri Lankan series. Pakistan hold that and im pretty sure they’re hosting it along with the UAE. Thats got to be one of the last titles Australia does not hold, surely, providing we win or draw the Sri Lankan series which is for the Warne-Muralidaran trophy. The Champions Trophy might suit Konstas’s style a bit more, i’d imagine he’s going to be picked.
The Champions Trophy is a waste of time

As a very casual cricket fan - is there any reason a bloke can't keep and open?
Obviously a keeper and an opener would generally have slightly different training focuses but if he bats well enough and other options aren't good then surely you just do it? Probably has been a thing before and I've just not seen it.
In this instance you might be saying Inglis isn't quite good enough and needs more batting/opening (/new ball) focus to get there.

The same question when it comes to whether we can take two all rounders or not. If the bloke is making more runs than the 3/4 batsman surely the fact he can also bowl should just be a free bonus? If Webster is making more runs than Marnus and we want to bring Green back why not just dump Marnus and decided how much, if at all, Webster bowls on a case by case basis. Marnus bowled an over anyway didn't he, basically an all rounder.
Because Alex Carey is already the Test keeper.

It'd be deadset wrong to drop a bloke who barely put a foot wrong in the India series.

Scorchers win the bat flip and field.

Photo is my view for the game.

Right now we are listening to some God awful music. Worst DJ in the world.

Must say out of all the venues the SCG easily has the worst music, it's appalling. Really wish they'd change it, at least mix it up a bit. Same every single game.

Same stand as us mate, we were bay 316. See my previous post, the music is terrible. I don't mind if they play a bit of that **** but at least mix it up, no rock at all which a lot of kids like these days.

My goodness HB, that’s two Sixers functions we’ve been to and have missed each other. We were in Bay 318.

I agree, cannot stand the music, I hate it no matter what is playing. It’s obvious they do it to keep people engaged I guess, attract the non cricket people. Go to the Test, none played at all in between balls.

Its amazing too how so many people get all excited about a beach ball bouncing around and paper aeroplanes. 🤦‍♂️
Sometimes I feel like saying to them, “Hey Morons, your bus is leaving.” Just like Bill Murray in Groundhog Day. 😆

While I’m on the rant, I just cannot understand why people constantly leave their seat while the game is on. If they’re with kids I understand I guess, perhaps they need the toilet, but the number of adults who do are crazy. One guy I counted left his seat no less than 12 times. Maybe they’re getting beers but surely you don’t need to leave that often.

Another thing that left me scratching my head was a family of four in front of us, all decked out in Sixers gear, left the game with 5 overs to go. WTF??? There didn’t seem to be any emergency so God knows why they didn’t stay to the end.

But despite all these inconveniences that aggravate an old man, I really enjoyed the game, 400 runs scored and a masterclass from Steve Smith. Brilliant stuff.

I'm not a fan of music after every ball but I get it, the kids love it and it's mostly about them. They just need to do a much better job of mixing it up and they don't at the SCG. Lots of mindless stuff.

As you know I love Tests as well and that's my preference but T20 is a different market, as old fossils we just need to accept it. No doubt I would have loved it as a kid if it was around back then.

We were guilty of getting up a lot but we had a 4 year old and 2 X 9 year olds, not much you can do in that situation.

The good news is my 9 year old is ready for a full day at a Test so we'll be buying Ashes tickets next year, I'd probably better start saving now!

Yes mate, totally understand getting up and leaving your seat for young kids. Totally understand that. And yes I accept all the stuff that goes on with the big bash as you say as old guys we need to get over it!

Yes my lad wasn’t really into Test matches until this year and we were going to get tickets on day 4 of the SCG test but of course it finished early so I couldn’t take him but will definitely do it next year. I was lucky that I had tickets for day 3!

If you don’t mind sitting on the side, the Bill O’Reilly stand is not too expensive. But yes other areas can be around $170 and that’s concession as well. I think that’s an absolute rort, charging that much for kids and seniors, but they seem to get away with it.
