Do you know this for sure? That's a pretty big statement. What else was going on in his life?

I don't think we're subservient at all, we're just not as cocky and arrogant as we used to be and I like it.

I'm not denying they have ********s in the team, who specifically are you talking about apart from Siraj and Kohli? Pant is brash but I haven't seen him act like a ********.
It's been no secret the whole Monkeygate affair and CA's limpwristed capitulation to India instead of backing him totally ****ed his mental health leading him to turn to alcohol to cope.

You are joking right, we rolled over like a Pavlovian dog to them in the first Test.

I'd put Bumrah in the conversation too. Great bowler, massive flog.

Yes we rolled over, that's got nothing to do with being subservient.

Big stretch to say Bumrah is a massive flog. Either way, even if you think he is that's only three players.

Thing is mate, players are too scared to get stuck in these days for fear of missing out on an IPL contract.

The players of the 90's, early 2000's wouldn't have rolled over like the current lot did in the First Test.

But you're talking about being brash, cocky and arrogant as being things you don't like. You don't think we were like that in the 90s and early 2000s?

Yes we were and the Karens & SJW's browbeated us into being softcocks.

Seems rather silly that India is allowed to be the things we were derided for and we've become the softcocks they were (Gavaskar being the exception).

We had to change after the sandpaper thing, I have no issue with that.

You're comparing our team now against probably the best team ever full of absolute champions.

We won the World Test Championship and ODI World Cup last year and we're leading the Test Championship now.

I'm pretty content with that.

Different generations and different era.

The theory was the India of that era was still a bit subservient to countries like us and England as a leftover to the dates of the British Raj.

The Indian teams from the Monkeygate period up to now are brash, cocky and arrogant.
Makes sense, the players these days aswell get paid so much more money then in that generation in all sports I'd say. It's a shame these days so many athletes can make themselves look arrogant & cocky.

Last game for us today before Christmas. Team 5 (us) v Team 3 (Gymea Bay) Last game they bowled us out for 21 chasing 146/3.

Gymea bat first and we have them 1-11 after 11 overs. My boy has the wicket. Then we get sloppy. 2/52 at drinks (15 overs).
We fight back with a few quick wickets but they get the upper hand and finish on 7/158. (30 overs).

More than we wanted to chase but certainly doable. I tell our top 5 batters to take it easy, play yourselves in, no silly shots, respect the ball on the stumps. Only one guy listens to me. We are 3/1 after the first over and the run is a leg bye. Two guys bowled playing terrible shots and our gun bat skying one second ball to mid on. We rally somewhat and get through to drinks at 5/57, our number 5 steadying the ship. My boy is with him but the 35 degree heat is suffocating and he becomes dizzy. Plays a lazy shot and is gone. We finish all out for 89.

The good news is that we hold on to 5th spot and the team coming 4th lose as well. Semis are still a possibility.

I've been drumming in 'respect the ball on the stumps' for a while now. I devised a game for training last week, was quite elaborate with scoring for different shots. Main thing was it was -5 runs if any shot other than a block was played if ball was on stumps. If they got bowled playing defence no penalty.

Finally sunk in a little today, only two players bowled playing silly shots (my boy being one) but encouragingly some of the not so good batters played some lovely straight bat defensive shots with a bent elbow.

Slowly but sure we're getting there. Really enjoying the journey I must say.

Sounds like you’ve got them on the right track mate.

The journey is so much fun, I’ve been doing this since my boy was in Under 8s and by coincidence the Gymea coach was coaching in our comp that very first year we played. It was his first season too.

Mate you started early, under 10s is the first year for all my boys excluding one.
