Played with heaps of aggression and intent today, busting tackles and hitting hard in defense. Actually passed the ball to Ricky for his try which is first time I have ever seen that :p

Good game but didn't seem to get much of the kicking duties today for some reason? Would have preferred he did more of it than Robson ffs

Played well but still needs to straighten up a bit with the ball. Still cramping his centre and winger too often for mine.

Yeah.

I hate it when our backrowers look like they're going to bust the line every time they get it. And when they lay on gift-wrapped tries for their outside men. And when they offer a kicking option. And when they're our most aggressive and consistent edge defender.

Junk player. No idea how he's captaining a rep side at 24.

Being named City captain, maybe he isn't too far off Origin selection after all?

I'm having a look through the squad and there isn't really any other obvious option, but still it's a pretty good indication that they've got some confidence in him.

If he has a big game, who knows?

Don't think anyone is saying that mate.

Just balancing out the mostly mindless criticism with some facts.

He's got some (limited) flaws. Mostly his flaws are the flipside of his strengths - e.g. his passing game, his big left foot step, his ability to influence a game - so you accept him as he is rather than whipping him for things that aren't anything to do with him (Bird not getting enough ball? Seriously?) because he's expected to be perfect. Hopefully he improves further but even if he doesn't he's still an excellent footballer and one of our best.

I thought Wade was average last night. We really need more from him.

It was a mixed night. He still worked really hard in defense even if he did make a few errors and seemed to ball hog at times.

His game might have looked even better had James Roberts not touched that ball that led to the Mead length of field try, because he was in for all money had he caught it.

In a way we need less. Stay out of the centres. Play the ball properly and don't give away stupid penalties especially as captain.

Wade strangles the side of the field he runs and starves our centres of ball or gives them no room to move.

He needs to run the ball down the middle of the field instead which is what he did in the later part of the second half and he was far more effective then.

SDK's advice in the post above is spot on. "Stay out of the centres".

I think a bit of the criticism he is getting is unfair. He is an edge forward, he's not doing a Gallen and planting himself at first receiver all night - He is staying on his edge. The fact that Robbo always seems to want to pass to Wade rather than use him as a decoy is the disease caused by a ****ty halfback. The expectation that a 2nd rower be a play maker is a problem of our pathetic attacking structures.

For instance the bloke getting picked on the left edge for NSW just plants himself in the centres and makes hitups all night without passing. He just tends to have a half willing to ignore him and pass it out to the backs instead.

100% the quick pass from Robbo to Wade cuts our outside options in half.
We need an inside man to create some room not just catch and pass the defence just slides, putting Wade out numbered with minimal options.
