He takes Hunts minutes imo.

For a 20 min stint he brings more energy * than Hunt. Plus seems more reliable

*Fitz seems to like the word energy when describing bench impact lately
In Royce’s defence.. he rarely misses the mark as a 20 minute benchie. His one game this year he **** the bed as a starter.

Thought he struggled at times to find his front and get a quick play the ball. He's immense in contact and hard to handle though. Can also imagine it's a long way down from up there. No doubt he'll get there.

I'd like to see him work on this more in cup with longer minutes, but very happy for him to be called upon anytime we need him.

I thought his average play the ball was actually very quick.

I'd have to watch it back. Live I thought there were a few times where players would get under the ribs and drive him back, and others that he was held up and slowed down.

I thought his game against the dogs was more impressive in this space.

Take nothing away though, from where he was last year to now he's come a long way. I'm just not ready to call him a must in the 17 if everyone's fit.

How many times has he crossed the stripe but not been able to touch down?
In the 2 games so far, I’d say he leads that stat???

Will be amazing when he can get the ball down.
Looking forward to that day.

I think let him take hunts spot for abit. Let him sort his stuff out with his leg. 4-6 weeks?
give hunt a run in lowers see how he goes . This will give both players ttime. One be in fg to get that experience and two the other player to heal and return stong

Yeah he absolutely gets that impact role until troops are back.

Yeap who knows it’ll help him next year and hopefully push other forwards more and coach’s can assess him for the long term. if he proves he Has hunger and wants more than make him prove it !
They’ll be less minutes to go around next year with AFB usually play a decent chunk. So a 20 min impact player is all we need potentially for that 4th spot

The 4th bench spot is always (pending no injuries) going to be a low minutes role due to number of interchanges available.

This bloke could fill it well, Hunt can too although not very popular at the moment because he had a bad game playing a different role (and then got injured).
Or use it for an Iro / Atkinson / Dykes (when settled back in) who can cover wide, do a quick job in the middle to rest people or pretty much sit out if needed.

I don’t think I’d wanna run Tuks and utility if availability didn’t force it.
Could always go horses for courses.

Atkinson, unless forced by availability, I don’t think is good enough to warrant squeezing him into a bench role, unless specifically covering for someone. Hopefully needing him due to availability doesn’t come up again.
He did fine yesterday but I don’t think he adds enough value over running Tuks unless desperate to have halves/backs cover.

Without firing up an Atkinson thread, I thought he brought similar value to Tuks last night, but in a very different way. Was only out there to give someone else a rest, but was heavily involved and managed to get some quick ptbs. I'd be fine with him as benchie #4 again as a point of difference. Not sure of his long-term potential in any one position but he could be useful in a Connor Tracey / Gerard Beale kind of way.

On Tuks ptbs, he won the ruck on 2/3 of his runs. There were just two really obvious/memorable ones which stood out. Got turtled onto his back one time around halfway once, and the one with the error.

This bloke is a weapon

How has he only played a handful of first grade games?

Yes he is young but for his potential not be given more opportunities to deliver in the last few years? Guess that Roosters pack was just too stacked but they don't usually let supreme talent go.

What a cracking decision to bring Tuku to our club, imagine what he could be capable of in his mid to late 20's?

Another player that should have Hunt and Dale on notice. Tuku has been mighty impressive, especially for his lack of FG experience.

Love him, but can he increase his minutes slightly? I know his present role doesn't require him to play more minutes, but if he had to, could he?

Thought he was looking gassed by the end of his stint, so I'd lean towards no. Happy to be wrong.

Essentially doubled his minutes from debut two weeks ago and his output remained close to the same from eye-test(will let @BurgoShark handle a deeper comparison if he's so inclined).

Agree with Proud was a but gassed towards end of stint but to be expected of a 22yr old with that frame.
Think 10-15mins is the sweet spot for him at moment.

Club slowly built Tommy up until they knew he was ready, we're reaping the benefits of that now. Expect to see the same with Tuks.

Can't lie though; cannot wait to see a game where he is coming on for his stint with AFB coming back onto the field next year.
