Penalty against the Sharks was the correct ruling, but I just though it was overly pedantic. The chasers timed their run properly but Brailey and Trindall got their combo wrong at the ruck. Ramien ended up kicking it straight in to touch and the chasers were never going to gain any advantage.

Would have to be really, impossible for all players to get back behind the kicker.

Yes.

Downtown rule has been around since the 90's. They have just been ignoring it for years. The idea is that you can't just send all of your chasers downfield early to encircle the kick returner.
