Oregon Kaufusi's intensity was good, might have finally got that rocket he needed cause last year he was alot more casual and lethargic compared to that performance which had more hustle and aggression. With that amazing flowing long hair he was like another somewhat more "rounded" (physically speaking lol) BHU

Wasn't there talks that he was going through some off field personal things that affected him?

Had his first child.

If you subscribe to the line of thought that his form dipped mid-season last year (which I don’t) and are looking for reasons why, you could speculate this this was a factor.

There was also talk that the bloke didn't have enough time to rest and recover some injuries from the previous season with the Eels and international duties.

Yeah but as has been previously said, very, very different having a young guy come into the NRL with a seasoned team around him v a trial like last week with very few NRL players.

Yes I meant to acknowledge that but forgot to type it in

Bringing up too many too quick into firsts is counter productive, better to ease them in gradually with experienced blokes around to support them and shows them the ropes

Still that wasn't a complete Newcastle Top 17 and some of that defense and ball handling left alot to be desired. Having things to work on in the lower grades is ok, now they just have to do the work.

I don't recall that

He was ok for us last season, wasn't bad - had some good moments and some kinda meh ones. Just was good to see some fire and intensity from him in the trial game.

I hear he's picking up Pantene as a sponsor.
or Pool Pro

Would be interesting to go back and look at when specifically the forum soured on Oregon. From memory there were definitely some "boring/meh but OK" comments early on but by mid year plenty had gone off him.

Edit... OK I checked. Round 1 there were a lot of negatives. After that it was mostly positive up until the Storm game. The forum turned on him after that. Very few positive comments.
