As we go into the off-season, I've had multiple people complain to me that the forum is becoming quite toxic, with some thinking of leaving, due to the personal attacks and people ganging up on others.

Without going back through every post in every thread, I can't determine who exactly started every fight and argument.

Something has to stop though, or we will seriously start losing more long-time valued members, and have nobody left to argue with.

This isn't a team sport where we are trying to win a battle over other forum members. We've had a great season with three teams in grand finals (and one win). There should not be so much to be angry about.

If it doesn't change over the off-season, I'll have to look at bans, as much as I hate the idea.

One starting point is to please stop the Hynes/Trindall/Kennedy references in every single thread.

And please re-read the forum rules, which were perfectly written up by (I believe) fitz back in the day.

Enjoy the summer!

Forum Etiquette

Consider this place to be like a dinner party.

You are welcome to stay and enjoy this place, but should you choose to abuse other guests or the hosts then you’ll be asked to behave. If you then continue to act in an abusive and anti-social manner, you will be asked to leave.

At sharksforever.com we understand that Sharks fans feel enormous passion and enthusiasm for their team. As a part of that, we also understand that it is probable that there will be passionate differences of opinion between members from time to time. We ask that you understand that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and that it is appropriate to attack another person’s opinion or argument but it is entirely inappropriate to attack the person.

Posting Guidelines

Rule 1: Don’t be a jerk
Rule 2: See rule 1

Please also do not include any of the following:
  • Discussions about legal matters before courts
  • Links to unapproved match video streams
  • Links to illegal or offensive pages or files.
  • Defamatory material, including allegations of steroid use / salary cap breaches / unverifiable personal allegations etc.
  • Posts, references, links, photos or tags that personally identify another poster, unless that person has previously made it clear that they are happy for their name/photos etc to be public.
  • Excessive unfair criticism of Sharks players. You can't get to this level of footy without being a decent player, and this forum is not designed to be a place for anonymous bagging.
