AFB is coming here. I’m convinced of it. I just can’t see the dragons being more appealing, and I don’t think it will just be about money for him.
It’s literally down to Fitz vs Flanno

Very ironic

Well he probably won’t see out the whole 4 anyway , I’d be shocked if who ever gets him won’t get him this year imo
I feel the opposite. Short of a perfect player swap, the Wahs are in a great spot to challenge next year if AFB is there. They haven't lost anyone of note, and added rts and cht.

Yeah they might accept BHU on an early trade, especially if they thought they could benefit from the price difference and AFB started pushing for it. But they are much better off trying to keep AFB for the year.
If AFB does agitate to leave after they've already agreed to an early (2025) release would make me want him a little less anyway.

Just because it reflects his character? We kind of already know that about him.

Personally I'd be happy to get him here ASAP, but I don't think it would eventuate as you can't just send a player to NZ.

Yeah, like you say he's had a few character issues in the past but I guess if you are signing him you hope they stay in the past.
Starting to agitate now when all settled and agreed for him to play 24 suggests they aren't buried very deep and more risk of disharmony from him.

Wouldn't exactly be upset to be getting him earlier, just would indicate heightened risk of potential issues

Yeah me either, but I think it's worth the risk. You'd have him for ages 29-32. If you get two great years out of him I think we have gotten value even if he declines after that. If he can still be high impact low minutes after that then even better.
I don't disagree but you just know the forum would be blowing up if we're paying a sub standard player ~2m for two years.

Tino would be costing more though..

AFB is a key piece and he’s there for the taking, it makes our team so much more of a problem to other teams overnight. We get bullied now
Yeah true. I also think he'd drag our other middles along.

Do you have any info on that? Sure if it then the coach is a big aspect, but all that's out there atm is Saints have offered big money and we haven't decided whether to match it?

Also can't discredit teammates and competitiveness having a big influence on where he wants to go.

We're just giving him the old treat em mean keep em keen.

He has one offer on the table and hasn't taken it so obviously willing to wait a bit and see if he can come to us instead.

Worst case might push Dragons to offer more on year 3 and 4. I guess in his mind that may be best case...

Because it can’t be less than the 1.1 or whatever the Warriors salary is.. so we would have to be there or close to it IF we send an offer through

The Luai sitch is like a 4-500 k difference per year for eg

Just for the next two years though. We could easily offer him less in years 3 and 4 and try to leverage the fact we're a better side.

we are a much better side (for now anyways) which is why I’m hoping Fitz should get this once across the line easier then Flanagan would.

I don’t think we would drop the $ in years 3 or 4 too much, he’s a top prop at the top of his game in a key spot… he’s gotta be atleast worth a million in todays market if we’re paying 750k to Dale and 500k to Tracey

How do you know that? There will be a bidding war and most likely that the highest bidder will get him. Flanno will be desperate for a big addition. he may be forced to offer 20% more.
As above, if we offer it has to be at the warriors price at least.. 1.1-1.2 is what is getting floated around.

We can’t offer less and I read that the dragons offer was somewhere around that mark also..
