“The NRL’s August 7 transfer deadline allows clubs to make late changes and final tweaks to their rosters before the final month of the regular season heading into the finals”.

Yeah was brought in when Covid hit.

Bloody ridiculous it's still here.

Yeah I agree.
It should close by round 10 at the latest imo.

Whilst it's in place the club should take advantage if they can though.

SHARKS
Spots left in the Top 30:
2

What they need: With the consistent Teig Wilton set to miss some time with a knee injury, and their edge defence struggling mightily against the Warriors, the Sharks should look to bolster their back row. They could also attempt to improve their halves depth as the 32-year-old Matt Moylan’s form has been patchy of late.

Who they should target: Bayley Sironen is playing a handy role off the bench for the red hot Warriors, but he is without a contract in 2024 and could be in line for more minutes with the Sharks as soon as this season. If interested in a move back to Sydney, he should be looked at by Craig Fitzgibbon. The Cowboys’ Mitchell Dunn is another that forward-needy teams should look at for a quick fix this season. Dunn is a solid first grader but is playing for a club that is staked with back rowers (Jeremiah Nanai, Heilum Luki, Reuben Cotter, Luciano Leilua). If he’s after more opportunity, he’ll likely need to find another club, much like former Cowboy Connelly Leumelu did when signing with the Dolphins. Like Sironen, he is without a contract for 2024 at this stage.

sironen is a decent shout, not seen enough of dunn

neither are a prop though
They've clearly just focused on second row with Teig being out. Who knows what they would have written if that hadn't just happened.
Dunn is a big lad and has shown some good flashes but has a heap of guys in front of him like they say. Could be worth sounding out just in case JC struggles there, can leave him for a couple weeks and then make an urgent call if needed.
Pretty happy to back JC in but doesn't hurt to have a backup plan.

Can't really imagine Warriors sitting solidly in 8 releasing someone who has played 16 games for them so far this season - that seems very unlikely.

I also only glanced through most other teams so may have missed but don't think the authors even considered dev players either.
Posted more due to updated list of off contracts than the insightful moves suggested (although list weirdly includes Jensen - he's off contract next year because he doesn't have a contract now)

Your mystery prop still TBA

I know he does sometimes play second row, but I prefer Dunn as a middle.

The author might have unknowingly have added to the Sharks halves depth with his second rower suggestion. Dunn played five-eighth for Mackay occasionally, and there were some games where the halves combo was Dunn-Hynes.

I'll be honest I feel like I've seen him play some decent games but I couldn't tell you when or if they were on edge or middle

The Mackay combo is a good pickup by you, better not be spoofing us again, otherwise snowy will be dunn with you
Because I also made a Crouch pun

Demand a transfer fee. UK clubs always do it to us so why not?
On the issue of transfer fees, how does it work with a salary cap. Assuming UK clubs pay this for AU players, can it be used in addition to cap on players or is it other revenue to be used on football staff, improvements, etc?

Just revenue
Can’t be used on cap
