Sign Curran now please! He’d kill it for us.
I'm inclined to agree, but you just need a spot for him. I think the trio of Mcinnes, Finucane and Williams leaves no space for him.

Ideally this pack would work:

8. Bhu
10. Rudolf
11. Nikora
12. Wilton
13. McInnes

14. Curran
15. Williams
16. Hazleton
17. Hunt/Kaufusi

But that is in a world where Finucane magically goes elsewhere, which is extremely unlikely.

I also don't think Curran brings enough over Dale next year that we can justify the spend for a bench role, especially when we already can't fit them all in.

You'd think in that pack Hazleton would miss out for Dale. But then you'd likely have Dale start with Cam off the bench. Could even have Williams start and Toby also off the bench... It'd be a pretty dynamic bench!

Use whichever you find applicable

Curran should replace Finucane?
Swapping out 102kg Finucane for 103kg Curran will really bring the kind of size our pack has been missing.

I'm particularly excited for the 4 less average hitups per game (for 33 less run metes average) Curran brings and his 8 less tackles per game (at a worse rate) as that presumably frees him up to do some serious mongrel enforcing.

Now, Finucane does make the Sharks forwards most 8+ meter runs, and Curran is one of the Warriors worst at this, but Curran makes up for that by breaking almost twice as many tackles per game, with an average just below 1.0

Curran should replace Williams?
Swapping out 98kg Williams for 103kg Curran will really bring the kind of size our pack has been missing.

I'm particularly excited for the 3 less average hitups per game (for 35 less run metes average) Curran brings and his same number of tackles per game (at a worse rate) as that presumably frees him up to do some serious mongrel enforcing.

Now, Williams does make the Sharks forwards 4th most 8+ meter runs, and Curran is one of the Warriors worst at this, but Curran makes up for that by breaking almost half as many tackles per game, with an average just below 1.0

Finucane is on old legs and spends a lot of the season injured or suspended.

All his luck might come in 2024 but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Probably worth it if Finucane left and we got Curran and cleared up 300k+ to spend elsewhere
A straight swap I think is probably worse for us, between Williams and upcoming Colquhoun I think we can accommodate if Dale plays limited games again this season. I don't think Curran adds enough to benefit us over Finucane at same price.
One thing in his favour though is he is an edge depth option.

Either /or, we cld do with a creative ball playing forwards who can defend ( is Curran a tackler?) AND not drop the ball
He makes twice as many errors as Williams and three times as many as Finucane.
Is objectively a worse tackler than Finucane (less tackles at worse rate) and also Williams (similar volume, worse rate)

(by rate I mean Curran tackler % is lower - misses/incompletes more)

Yep, I'd love us to have a link forward with a bit of game sense who is capable of doing the tough stuff and wants to be involved in everything like an extra 5/8.

There's a few of them around but we don't have one at the moment.

Billy Mags is probably available ;)

Colquhoun has shown some promise in this area, and McInnes improved a lot in 2023 with his passing at the line.

With the Sharks though, the way it is supposed to work is that every forward does some passing rather than just having one guy as a the designated ballplayer.

Yep, but a coach works with what he's got.

If we had a Victor Radley in the team I'm sure our structure would adapt to take advantage.

(and yes Bort, I know that he's suspended probably even more than Finucane, but just using his style of play as an example)

Thinking Sifa needs to be included in these projected forward pack and bench rotations.

Just a hunch ..

No this is why they want to move him on Webster told him that he needs to work on his defence but they didn't see any improvement so he is free to leave.
