Feels very recency bias haha
Of course, dislike whoever you wanna dislike, just find it interesting you picked 3 guys with such recent cross over and who played well at times

Cut them all one year earlier and they aren't too bad. Moylan being the obvious exception if you hold his injuries against him (and not counting next year as it hasn't been played, although don't get your hopes up for a great season from him).

Certainly none lives up to our hopes (and pays) when signing them, and all ended (ending) on bad notes

Dugan
2018 14 games 6 tries 4th (Sharks ladder position)
2019 23 games 11 tries 7th, one of our most consistent performers
2020 16 games 4 tries 8th
2021 8 games 3 tries 8th, disaster, dropped, not taken into covid bubble, fired

SJ
2019 18 games 7th, 10th most average TAs in NRL
2020 16 games 8th, most average TAs in NRL
2021 10 games 8th

Moylan
2018 24 games 4th, was a solid 5/8, 6th most TAs in NRL
2019 11 games 7th, injury and position issues
2020 8 games 8th, injury and position issues
2021 15 games 8th, injury and position issues
2022 24 games 2nd, was a solid 5/8, most TTI in NRL
2023 20 games 6th, was a relatively poor 5/8

Doesn't help we had all three underperforming / struggling to make the field 20 & 21
The three playing 73 out of a possible 132 (55%) regular games in these two years certainly didn't do us any favours. Especially when they were amongst our biggest earners when we also had a cap reduction.

I wouldn't say for me any individually are amongst our worst but certainly far from our best signings.

Odd isn't it, given how continuously utter garbage he has been for us, that the more he plays the better we finish - how do his Sharks Forever Player of the Year votes stack up, I hear you not wondering?

2018 24 games 4th, 58% win percentage 4th most SF votes
2019 11 games 7th, 55% 7th most SF votes
2020 8 games 8th, 63% 0 SF votes
2021 15 games 8th, 53% 5th most SF votes
2022 24 games 2nd, 67% equal second most SF votes
2023 20 games 6th, 60% = 13th most SF votes

A 'oh-what-could-have-been' signing in the Nigel Vagana mold. Pretty disappointing signing overall. And I'm a big Shaun Johnson fan...
If SJ took to heart the Warriors not wanting to extend him and us extending a hand as much as he did when it flipped back he’d have been great for us.

Funny now he’s this balanced widely respected halfback* and it’s probably thanks in no small part to what he learnt with us (executed with an attitude shift)

*plenty of respect before for his football but not as a halfback

Nigel Vagana.

Because he took up a heap of our measly budget and went backwards as soon as his sprigs hit Cronulla turf.

Had been a sensation until he came to us.

Not his fault. We were the neighbourhood lawnmower guy with a sports car.
Damn that’s a good one - for me he was a weird one because I had very limited familiarity with players outside the sharks at that stage and just had no idea why this guy was supposedly a good signing

@mods should give it another couple days then throw up a poll with the popular candidates

I liked him as a player. Just didn't turn out a good buy.

Still proud that he played for the Mighty Sharks.

It's tough to choose, even players who have been very poor decisions all probably gave us one good highlight at least.

Like Carney embarrassed the club and then sued us, but his signing was exciting news in awful times.

Fergo walked out on us for a premiership, but for a couple of years he gave us a lot of a hope as a club.

Vagana wasn't worth the money, but he was never a disgrace. Similar with Tupou. Both showed class at times.

I think Mat Johns (mentioned further above) is probably the closest, he never felt like a Shark in any way.

I also probably would have preferred no Kimmorley, and see where Presto got us.

In the end, it all led to a premiership though....

Can't remember the name of the below average Newcastle forward we signed after he called Wayne Bennett an 8-ball or something.

Wouldn't sign him again.
