Never suffered much detention myself that I remember. Don't think my schools did arvo detentions, and if they did I was never present. Remember a couple lunch times though.

Worst had to be 5 days in school suspension. Other than that I'd get caught wagging in high school with mates and their answer was to suspend us all for a week - brilliant system if you ask me. Miss maths and get a weeks holiday with your mates.

the school where I work does in-school suspensions. the kid has to hang out in the office all week - not allowed outside for lunch (they have to eat it in the suspension room) and do all the class work that's been set.

I never used to understand why you'd give a kid a holiday for doing something really naughty. But I guess the original thinking was that if both parents work, it'd be a frustration for them, having the kids at home for a week, and feeling the need to supervise them. But that doesn't happen either.

nah depedning on wat the kid did e.g attempt to burn the school,grafiitti, sweat at teachers or sexual assualt to anyone the parents dnt really care.....my old skool(now graduated and nervousl waiting for uni results 2moz) does interskool detentions but they kid can walk out whenever they please and do everything normally most of the punishment there out helping sports teachers set up, or delivering notices arounf 2 classes
