Despite attempting just one free throw, Jimmer scored a career-high 52 points in the Cougars’ 87-76 win over New Mexico in the Mountain West tournament semifinals. Before thousands of BYU faithful at UNLV’s Thomas & Mack Center, Fredette began the night with 33 points in the first half and ended it with several spots reserved in the record book.
The 52 points -- on 22-of-37 shooting (7-14 from 3) -- tied for the most points scored by a Division I player this season and was the most by any player in any conference tournament over the last 15 years.

With his 50th point, Fredette also became BYU’s all-time leading scorer, passing the great Danny Ainge.
-- On Friday night, The Jimmer easily outscored both Penn State (36) and 13th-ranked Wisconsin (33). Those two combined for 28 made field goals (Fredette had 22) and five 3-pointers (Fredette had seven). The Jimmer also tallied more points than ACC teams Boston College (47) and Florida State (51), and equaled the total of Virginia Tech (52).
