Taupo Community Embraces The Sharks

Taupo Community Embraces The Sharks

Taupo continues to embrace the Sharks. This town is Black, White and Blue through and through right now! In the last 24 hours, these posters have been appearing in shop fronts throughout Taupo.

For one hour between 4PM and 5PM, Taupo turned into a "Shark Hunt" with various boys stationed at different places all throughout town. Locals were running from shop to shop trying to get as many signatures as they could within this hour.

I happened to be with Jeremy Smith and Tyson Frizzell for this hour.

It is just awesome to be a part of this, and the community support should grow even further over the next couple of seasons. Hopefully the club can establish a real foothold here.

I have taken quite a few photos so far but having a few issues downloading them from my phone; someone else took the one below and emailed it to me so I could post it up here (me with Wade Graham and Matt Wright outside local toy shop!). The other players to take part in the in store signing sessions this arvo were: Jeremy Smith and Tyson Frizzell; Josh Cordoba and John Williams; Colin Best and Taulima Tautai (have some great pics of those two!); and Albert Kelly and Dean Collis.

After rushing around the town getting as many autographs as possible I needed a cold beer so went to a mainstreet cafe, sat down and who should walk in but Dougie, Gards, John Morris, Kade Snowden, Brod Wright and John Mannah (I should add that they were there for coffee and not beer! ). So got more autographs and photo and a chat. The boys seem to be really enjoying their Taupo experience, and in a good frame of mind for the Warriors game, relaxed but quietly confident. :cheers

Jigsaw I thought you were going to ask about Albert! I didn't get a photo with him but had a quick chat with him, he was visiting some shops with Dean Collis. He said he is feeling pretty good about his game and developing a good understanding with Wade Graham and he seemed pretty confident of a good result against the Warriors if the boys put it together on sunday and play smart footy.
