The NSW Cup side named for this weekend is bloody strong. Beau Champion, and a front row of Vave, Mannah and Aiton.

Beau Champion again in the centres, pity we can't call him up to first grade.

he would have been a great signing if we could have competed with titans money and "family issues". if he was fit at the start of origin time i think QLD would have been worried with him in the centres...

kinda gives you a cruel split second of excitement and hope when you read the "Sharks" NSW cup team and see a name like his in there - then that split second later its just sheer disappointment!

I have always rated TT, but of late I am starting to question this.

How is Vave not getting any time?

I reckon there must be something going on behind the scenes, that Flano has specifically requested from Vave which is not being fulfilled ?

Has he not been very good every time he has played FG ?

I agree mate. There has to be something with his work ethic or perceived attiude at a guess. He has been great every time he has played. Plays with enthusiasm, hits hard and bends the line. What the **** does Tautai bring to the table? Penalties and missed tackles. I stuggle to believe that this is the team that will run out. No recognised frontrowers on the bench? It's Flanagans call but I struggle to see how he can justify it after last game.

holy **** that is a strong NSW cup lineup they would give 1st grade a big run for there money. We could of offered champion a mid year contract to play with us for the rest of the year now he has been dropped for the young guys.

At least if we gave Vave a couple more matches we could see if he is an answer for next season. At the moment it appears he has deadset dropped him out of the team altogether.

Even if Flanno things Clayton is a better option, well use him, give him experience, and see if he has what it takes for next season to be a bench prop.

This also helps with signing. At the moment we have bought Taga, Green and possible Taufua for props, if Clayton is ready for next season, it would mean that we didnt require so many & we could of specifically have targetted a more expensive starting prop, like Poore or Ross.

I reckon this whole arrangement in NSW Cup with Storm is crazy.

Why should the sharks players miss a spot in the side, and then have to play park footy (assumption).

A bloke like Ricky Leutele should not have to miss out because of B. Champion who will never play for the sharks. If I were Flanno I would much rather have a potential FG player in Reserve Grade then a bloke who is only going to play for the opposition.

Btw, I couldnt really care if the NSW Cup win a trophy at the end of the year, everyone is going to say we are two NRL reserves sides combined.

Just reading on an Eels forum, and they reckon that Tautai is a sure thing to return to them next season.

So..........why are we even bothering?

Between the missed tackles and mistakes, surely we are better utilizing that position for a player that we have either already signed, or are trying to determine to re-sign or not!

Yeah I would like to know the reasons behind the merger, but if I was to hazard a guess, I would say the reason is financial.

Sure, the merger isn't ideal - but I'm sure that the Sharks didn't choose to if we did not have to.

And meh, who cares what others say, a premiership is a premiership, especially to the players. Hopefully the winning culture of our lower grades somehow finds its way to our first grade side...

I agree that it would be financially driven, but still its only NSW Cup. The expenses to transport players around Sydney/ Central Coast could not really hurt the bottom line that much? We could be using local A Grade Players to make up the numbers with the players in the top 25 squad not playing NRL. Paying them peanuts.

Its a silly decision, and it could cost us players getting combinations & experience playing with each other in reserves, and then transferring that into FG in the future.

As for the call on a 'premiership is a premiership', its not it is with Storm in NSW Cup!
If this was the case, Sharks FG should have mergered with Dragons, and we would have won last year. I do not buy it. As far as I am concerned if we do win NSW Cup, it is a fickle result.

Yeah like I said, I have no idea what the reasons are. I would be interested to know. I've heard that the merger is off next year though (don't know where I heard that - but I vaguely remember).

yeah im pretty sure the storm had trouble financially after the salary cap scandal, and to save money merged with us. but i also heard it supposed to be split next season. with the storm getting their own team again. (think it was on fox sports)

I think TT is playing Cordoba's role and Taga is playing the role that Vave would be applicable for.
