Oh please....yes, everyone is hurting because our star player is no longer playing for our club. However to direct venom at the guy who pulled the plug is not the way to make yourself feel better. Noyce did the dirty deed because he was paid to do so as the Shark's CEO and has to send the message that we have standards that need to be met. To give Todd a chance to explain himself after so many past indiscretions was really a bridge too far.

This is a family club. How many fathers on this forum have already stated their embarrassment at having to explain to their kids that their favourite player had a photo taken of himself attempting (pretending or otherwise) to urinate into his mouth.

What a wonderful role model for your child to look up to at the next player meet and greet with that in the back of everyone's mind - if nothing was done. We would have been the butt of jokes from every other rival fan everywhere for years.

Mods, I move that you change the title of this thread. Noyce should not be insulted with offensive words for simply doing what he was paid to do - hold decent standards for the club even though all of us wish this had never happened.

Yes, I am one of those fathers having to explain to my son that his favourite player is no longer with the club. Thankfully, at four years old my boy is a little too young to become too emotionally attached to a player. When I explained it to him, he seemed ok and as long as Taga and Gal were still playing he was fine.

I'm rocked by the events of the past few days. I feel gutted for Todd and hope he is going to be ok. I've met him a few times and he seemed like a nice fellow. But on the drink and with the wrong crowd, he's not in the best light and as I've said before, this surely wasn't an isolated incident. Noyce and the board had no choice otherwise they would have looked very weak, not just to the NRL but to the players.

This is a message to the players not to **** up.

do I agree with Carney getting the arse, most definitely not. Can i understand him getting the arse, most definitely.

The thing that's pissed me off with this whole deal is the way in which it has been handled. Once again the board have shown a complete lack of professionalism and a complete disregard of the members and current players.

His bull**** little speech and the way they broke the news to the players, via text and before Todd was given a chance to plead his case to the board and to the players is disgusting.

They talk about culture at the club, well Todd isn't the only one breeding a noxious culture. These muppets have shown all current and future prospects that they are willing to hang em out to dry so to speak with little notice. If I was a NRL player from another team, the way asada, the current coaching woes, and this incident have been handled would weigh very heavily on my joining the sharks in the future.
well said mate, this is how I feel as well

My daughter is a HUGE Carney fan and unfortunately no amount of explaining that what he did was immature and irresponsible is going to change her mind that the club acted too hastily. That given, after meeting the guy at a couple of functions I can say that when sober, he is a really nice guy. Always happy to sign stuff for kids and talk to them. Those are the things kids remember, not bubbler episodes come 5 years down the track. Carneys biggest problem as we all know is the drink and dick heads that hang off him like star ****ers. If he could somehow move in with a mentor role player and re-establish his life, he may be able to get his life back in order. I wish him well and thank him for supplying us the effort and passion we all show toward this club. Google luck Toddy.

What administrators bring to an organization is not necessarily obvious from the outside so its hard to judge Noyce.

But I am disappointed in so far as there doesn't seem to have been any particular process followed with this shamozzle. And there's been a distinct inability to get out in front of the story and control it.

Does anyone know when his contract is up?

Wow, where ya been AB, long time since I read a post from you, welcome back.

Do we know this, or are we just assuming it? Did Noyce just bone Carney or did it actually go to the board? Did Noyce take Carney's request to "make his case" to the board or did he make that decision himself? I think we are jumping to conclusions here.

Fair question. I think all anyone wants is for these decisions to be made professionally. Maybe of was - but it hasn't appeared that way... which is a failure in itself.

I'm not pro or anti the Board or Steve Noyce. I just think that in order for our Club to thrive we have to get so, so much better. That may be via this administration or it may require a new one.

And does anyone honestly think, since unity has been in power that they can fix this?

Thats not a question to noyce and the club. Thats just putting their names infront of a forum post like we are all doing.

Im against the sacking, but i believe thats its a straw that broke the camels back situation, and in that case i dont think there would have ever been an alternative outcome

I also had to explain to my 8 year old son that his favourite player was sacked. I described what Carney did and he said 'Dad, I thought Todd was a good man'. I explained that Carney is a good player but good players are not necessarily good men. I said that I don't know if Carney is a good man because I have never met him but he has done some very silly things. It was a good lesson for him about consequences of actions.

Players are not role models but they do have influence.

For the record, I think the club handled this poorly. Should have investigated and made a considered decision after getting all the facts and interviewing relevant parties.
