with reni now a shark, we have an over abundance of back rowers, and a few of them are very comfortable at playing in the centres, so it makes you wonder if ricky has a plan to play maitua, anderson or even williams in the centre.some of the poster on here may get their wish, and simmo might be gone. he better have a hell of an offseason, because if misi comes back as strong as last season, he may not even get a wing spot. i think ando showed us last year he has improved his ball handling abilities, and i think all his tries were scored out wide as well, so i think he might get first shot.

I don't think anyone's position is a sure thing, and thats a good thing. We've finally got some decent depth, and provided its not used up covering too many injuries, it should see our NRL, PL and U20's sides benefit from the competition between players for top spots.

Even though the depth in positions such as the backs might not be as classy as the depth in the backrow, the depth is still there and there aren't any real show stoppers who are so much better than the rest that they won't have to compete as strongly for the starting spots.

Its a very well balanced team for 2009 and the more I ponder the upcoming season the more confident I get. I'm not the sort of bloke to make bold predictions, but I am an irresponsible gambler and there will be smiles and cries on the sports betting front, I just hope its the bookie crying more often than me.

The only thing that could put a downer on that would be for us lucky ones thinking about our poor, long suffering brethren who passed up (not missed, no excuses now) the opportunity to have a part of it.

simmo needs to prove he deserves to play for the sharks, cos as far as im concerned theres no place for him.

if he is a good player, he needs to stop pussyfooting around and prove it

Would also beat my first root! Come to think of it, just the first win of the season would beat that. Pretty lousy actually. Ok well I guess you summed it up.

I reckon Anderson will be the man for centre.Simmons will be considered for a wing spot only and it is hard to see him displacing Misi or Cov.Maitua can play centre at a pinch.I think Williams will come off the bench at least until he regains confidence in his knee.

I think they have a Nasal spray for that I am sure Buzz sent the details onto peachey in another thread.

Hope that helps :D

Interesting never really thought him as a center.

Here Here ! Simmo is (as I have always said) a hack. Get rid of him now and lets not waste any of 2009 with his crap. I want to see Filiga step up or alternatively get someone with some pace in the centres. Simmo should have worked more on his speed and skills last and less on his weights last off season!

Simmo is not a hack...just joe average...reminds me of the sort of guy that was never the best player in any of his teams but turned up 20 min early to training and left 20 mins after. probably needed 30mins. Send Ando to 4.

i agree with capital shark

one of the pleasing things about sharks team this year besides the over all talent of starting team is our depth, espically in forwards. i see a big year for the sharks. simmo is in danger someone like frazer anderson may get his spot, but he is not the only one the competion for back row spots in particular will ensure our forwards perform every week. i think 09 will be the year of the shark

girls footy has more skill then simmo...for our sake and the chance to go 2 better next season, he has to be somewhere other then first grade..should take out an AVO on him so he cant come within tom uglies bridge of the ground

joe the park footballer would show more ticker then more 100k+ free rider

need to blood some of that raw talent we have waiting in NYC

i think ricky will persist with simmo. he doesnt lack any skill like sum are saying but he is a bit of a pussy and a bit goofy. one thing to remember is hes only 24 and last year was his first at centre after many years of fullback and wing where he did alright. if he can get his speed back a bit, his positional play in order and run onto the ball a bit harder he might be a handful in 09. hes gonna have to fight for his position too so maybe a few weeks in PL will give him the spark!

However.... reni is bloody fast for a forward, i remember a couple of long range tries where hes broken the line and gone all the way so pressures on simmo!
