Should we keep this bloke?

Luke Covell... I think we should retain him. He showing a lot of fight, and that's what we need. Yeah, I'm Covell supporter, but I really think the club could do with him in the future.

im a covell supporter, but we need to keep him. Last night his defence was great shutting down cherrington and that fend on ben jones was awesome.

I'm 50/50 with Covell. He is a great defender but IMO he is a poor attacker. I havn't seen him take one kick in there half line like last year, is it just me or is he constentely batting it back when he dosn't have to??

So i don't really care if we sign him or not, i want him to work on his attack.

Great game from Cov last night. Every time I am thinking he's just too slow, or he comes off his wing to much on defence, he comes up with a great play and makes me thankful we didn't offload him seasons ago. He does so many good things and is such a smart footballer that it makes up for some of his deficiencies. On top of that his experience in such a youthful backline is invaluable, and while I have never met him, apparently he is a top bloke and a great clubman...I would like to think there would be the possibility of an offield role for him at the club once his playing days are over.

We should stick by Sharks that have been around for a while, even if they hit a slump. Covell is one of them. He's starting to get good again.

Im gonna go with the unpopular answer here and say no. I don't want a guy who takes 17 rounds to hit form every year.

He is level headed and provides leadership. The players seem to like him, he's a 'nice' guy and can score a few with decent defence.

However, not a speedster and can have a slump or three.

Would lean toward keeping him because he's good for the club.

exactly what i was going to say, particular emphasis on the 'experience in a youthful backline' comment. i think we should give covell another one year contract and bar some unusual circumstance that should be his last. let him see if he can find an english contract for a 2-3 years (i dont think hed find an nrl one) and after that he could be considered for any appropriate role at the club.
