If we remain tight around the ruck and don't give Payne a sniff we'll be fine. Cowboys live and die on the back of Aaron Payne's work out of dummy half. Thurston might be a threat, but he'll be forced to create from his own half more often than not if we do a proper job at marker. This will frustrate Thurston and then we ought to see his error rate tick over steadily all night.

Shut down there attack and you've shut down their game, essentially. Only the busted Bulldogs have conceded more points this year than the Cowboys, which says a lot about their defense, or lack of. Even when they came 3rd last year they had the worst points differential of any team.

No reason we can't have another week where we crack 20 and keep the opposition to zero, or close to it.

They have a poor defense but what they have relied on in the past is just scoring more points than the other team with the likes of Thurston, Bowen and Payne. If our defense is up to scratch (and the last 2 weeks proved it is) we should win this.

how do you think we will line-up?

will ricky rest a few of the boys?

if i was coach i would pick this squad seeing as it's the last round and we are firmly entrenched in the top-4

1.Orcher (Kearney Rested)
2.Simmons (Misi Rested)
3.Pomeroy
4.Anderson
5.Covell
6.Green (Seymour Rested)
7.Kimmorley
8.Ross
9.Kingston (De Gois Rested)
10.Norrie
11.Douglas
12.Stephenson
13.Millington (Gallen Rested/Suspended Possibly)

14.Nutley
15.Snowden
16.Peek
17.Seu Seu

gives some of our best players a rest, gives green a chance to shine in the halves and gives ben orcher a bit of a go in 1st grade, see if he's up to it

I'll be very surprised if Ricky rests any of our players. These days players need to play week in week out to keep that physical and mental toughness. Giving some of the under 20s players exposure to first grade is good but not at this point. We need all our top grade players match fit and eager to play.

I'm Actually kinda worried about this game,
Its easy enough to say all we have to do is shut down Aaron Payne, but i bet all teams go out to do that he is a top 5 Hooker in the game in my opinion.

And no player should be rested with a shot of rappin up a top 2 spot we should gun for it...

Obviously. I didn't mean to come across like it'd be a walk in the park. Just pointed out some key things to focus on. How they go about countering those things and maintaining the focus is up to Sticky.

No team in this competition should be overlooked or considered an easy, or 'easier' beat than others. Especially a team that boasts the likes of Thurston and Payne.

Also gotta agree that no one will be rested just because we've sured up a home final. Gotta keep the momentum going and avoid changes to a squad thats doing the job well. This is what makes me a little glad that we're likely to come 3rd - I don't know whether the week off (should we win) would be good for our mob.

Can't wait for this one. The only thing better than seeing the Cowboys lose and being at the bottom of the table like they belong is seeing the Sharks score a big win against them. I have a feeling we'll get to see that this week. Cowboys scored a less than impressive win against a Raiders outfit far away from home that was devastated by injury, now with the Sharks looking to send a clear message heading into the finals (and possibly snatch a minor premiership if Manly and Melbourne slip up this week) expect to see yet another dominant Cronulla display.

Is it just me, or is anyone else depressed at the fact we won't get the chance to see Greg Bird spread Thurston all over the turf at Shark Park and then stand over him like the heavyweight champion of the world? (sigh)
Seriously, that will remain one of my all time favourite images in Rugby League.
