Here is my preview for the big game on Sunday at Toyota Stadium
Well, the mind games have started already. This battle on Sunday will be a mental one as the Tigers have named Benji Marshall to come back four weeks early and Robbie Farah is still a day to day proposition. Sheens says he won't play yet the rumours persist that he will. The Tigers desperately need both players on the field if they are to win this one.
Having said all that the Tigers do look the best with their attack, so if they are able to defend well they have a good chance of coming away with a win. The Sharks also have things on their minds, the new stadium opening went horribly wrong last week with the golden point loss in a game they really should have won easily. There has been plenty of player unrest through the week about a possible swap between Kimmorley and Ryles and this must affect the players surely.
Positives for the Sharks include the return of captain Paul Gallen. If he can cut out the silly stuff and inspire his team then a Sharks victory is more likely. For the Sharks to win, they must show some of the attacking form they had in the first half against the Panthers. There was plenty of ball movement and De Gois found plenty of metres up the middle and there were some good attacking raids on the fringes. Look for Anderson and Bird (if both players are fit) to make plenty of inroads here against the Tigers.
The Tigers play a great attacking game as well and the Sharks defence will really have to be on their toes to restrict them. Targeting Benji Marshall will not guarantee victory, the Tigers have many other match winners in Hogdson, Lawrence, Payten and John Morris who has been shifted to hooker. Should Farah start the game, the Tigers will have even more in attack.
This should be a real tight game, I do favour the Sharks but it will only be by a few points.
Sharks by 4.
