Some Sharks players took off out of town for a couple of days, while others will hang around the Shire, putting their feet up and taking it easy, with the rest coming at the right time with the Sharks facing a tough run of matches in the weeks to come.
After this weekend’s bye, the Sharks return to ‘work’ on Monday morning to prepare for their next clash, an away game against the North Queensland Cowboys on Saturday night.
The week following the Sharks take on the Brisbane Broncos in a match scheduled for Saturday, May 17 at Toyota Stadium, with kickoff set down for 5.30pm.
The bye has also allowed the Sharks to get over their niggling injuries, with a number of players set to return either the week of the Cowboys or for the following match against the Broncos.
Fraser Anderson appears to have overcome a shoulder complaint and will be available for the Townsville trip, as will Kevin Kingston, who was back running freely at training on Friday after missing the Tigers game with a foot injury.
More good news surrounds the fact that Mitch Brown and Blake Green are also due back on the field, if not for next weekend then for the week following. Brown has yet to play an NRL game in 2008 after breaking a foot at training during the pre-season, while Green injured an ankle against the Gold Coast Titans in his only top-grade appearance and has been out of action for the past four weeks.
All three Sharks squads have this weekend off, with the Cronulla Cobras and Sharks Toyota Cup under-20’s also enjoying a bye.
