Will be good experience for Vave. Is Eddie Paea still under contract with us?

True but in fairness sharks did **** this year, Gallen was in and out of the team due to injury and he played bad in basically all big games he played in this year which admittedly can't be more than 1 or 2 (again due to injury)

Yeah but his end of season form was great. Plus, just on reputation alone, he desrves the chance to start, IMO. Reckon he is the best man for the job for shutting down Fui.

I don't think it will be long before he is back in the starting team. I think he is just happy to be in the team, full stop.

I really dont think Hoffman should be there. Gallen is better, but in saying that Gallen had a **** game in his last origin.

It could also be argued that Hindmarsh is better than any of them (well at least Hoff, Waterhouse and Thaiday), but he is nowhere to be seen.

My backrow would be.

What the F*ck? Gallen on the bench? That just goes to show how disrespected our team is, he is the first person id pick in any team, his heart, soul and determination will get you over the line, let alone his undeniable talent.

Watmough is a great player, so id keep him in the back row, id piss waterhouse right off, he shouldnt even be in the side, hes very ordinary.

does this mean price`s rep career is pretty much over?

Yep I reckon Hindmarsh, Gallen, and Watmough. All three are obvious choices I reckon and are fairly far above the other contenders.

I've never understood the selection process personally. Glad to see he is there though. Gallen as an impact player should be exciting to watch.

What price is he to throw a couple of interceptions with his wild offloads?

his odds are probably pretty good considering he will have less time in which to build up his stats.
i know it would be hard but i think ricky needs to talk to him next year about taking a bit of a backward step and not trying to carry the whole team.we obviously miss him when he is out as he is our best player but a lot of other guys step up when gal doesnt play. i just think he tries way to hard at times and goes away from what his strengths are

I couldnt agree with you more, he should just stick to his hard damaging running and let baz take charge of steering the direction.

Gallen named in Australia's starting side.

Australian Coach Tim Sheens has promoted Paul Gallen from the bench for Australia's next Four Nations match against England.

Gallen named in Australia's starting side.
29 October 2009

He was slammed for sparking a melee against the Kiwi’s last weekend, but Australian coach Tim Sheens has thrown his support behind Cronulla enforcer Paul Gallen, naming him in the VB Kangaroos 19-man side to take on England this Saturday.

Sheens has reacted to his side’s 20-20 draw with New Zealand, elevating Gallen into the starting pack alongside Manly’s Anthony Watmough, whilst Parramatta workhorse Nathan Hindmarsh will make his representative return.

In fear he could cost the Aussies the Four Nations Tournament, fans called for Gallen's sacking after his swinging arm and facial rub on hooker Isaac Luke sparked a brawl involving virtually every player.

However, Gallen was one of the Kangaroos best on-field, coming off the bench to make a mountain of tackles, hit-ups and offloads and has been rewarded.

The other major talking point is the return of Hindmarsh, who has been snubbed for NSW and Australian sides for the past two seasons.

Hindmarsh was convinced he had already played is last game for the green and gold but the opportunity to return will see him approach the Test as if it’s his last.

"I will be approaching it like that,'' Hindmarsh said.

"Just with what's happened with the changes for this Test. You don't know what's going to happen in the next Test. And we're in a bit of a ****ty position already. If we don't beat the Poms on the weekend, we're screwed.''

Hooker Robbie Farah, prop David Shillington and back-rower Luke Lewis are all poised to make their Australia debuts against the Poms. Kurt Gidley and Trent Waterhouse have also been included on the list of possible replacements, but are expected to be left out of the final 17.

Forwards Ryan Hoffman and Sam Thaiday were not chosen.

England started their Four Nations campaign with a comfortable 38-12 win over France and a second straight win would clinch them a place in the final at Elland Road on November 7.

Gal

i have to say that Paul Gallen really gave it to the poms and kiwis, i thought that his work against the poms, especially in the first half was some of his best footy as he was clearly our most aggressive forward on the day.
He was the only Aussie forward who could manage second phase play in the first half, in defence he was tireless and kept morely and that big guy going to souths in their place.
Gal is one tough mother and has more than justified his place in the Aussie pack ! He is a mongrel and oposition teams fear him.
BTW he can really mix it up in the boxing stakes if the kiwis want to go there :gal:
Bring on 2010 !!!!!!!!!!!! UP UP CRONULLA

PAUL GALLEN GOES SHOOTING WITH ROOS
11 November 2009

In just four days time the Australian Kangaroos will have seventeen Englishmen in their sights, but yesterday it was prey of a different kind they were targeting.

With the squad given a day's break from the training paddock, a number of players loaded up at a trap shooting range.

Naturally, there was plenty of competition between the players, and it paid to be accurate.

Paul Gallen is a player who knows how to aim up on and off the field, the ruthless Aussie forward proving too good for his team mates with a twelve gauge.

Not everyone fared as well with Nathan Hindmarsh quick to point out his teammates weaknesses.

The Kangaroos will regroup tomorrow to continue preparations for Saturdays' Four Nations Final.

Watch the video here for a bird's eye view of the day.
