I love the Sharks! I know that probably puts me in a light of simplicity right now, but let me explain.
I'm Canadian...North American....whatever. Up until moving to Australia I was never a really "sportsfan" you could say. I liked boxing and soccer and some winter sports but I was never a follower.
So, a couple of years ago I moved to Australia and decided to make my home in Cronulla. Previous to that I had been to Aus and fell in love with it and the Shire so naturally I came back. To spare everyone on the mushy details I married my sweetheart who is a major Sharks fan. He's been a Shark since he was in diapers and it was only natural I became a sharks fan too, for more than the obvious reason of course
Anyways, I don't have enough fingers to tell you how many times I've bumped into the sharks. My first Sharky encounter was with Covell, and this was right as I was getting into footy, so for me, it was massive. What ensued afterwards was an obession you could say. I was in love with the Sharks! Covell of course became my fav. My choice is a bit biased though because my hubby is similar to him, but that's not the only reason, I just think he's so dynamic and is constantly improving himself and his game and always brings it. So much so, when we got a dog....what did I choose to call him?? yes you guessed right, Covell.
So I'm in brisbane now with my hubby because of work etc etc and yes I go to the sharks away games here and yes I wear my full gear in support. When the sharks had a game here against the broncos, Des hodges (Justin Hodges') brother came into our office, so what did I do? I wore my sharks polo. You wouldn't believe the amount of heckling I get. It's bad enough people think I'm a "yank" but to add to that I'm from NSW and supporting the Sharks and I just get it hurled at me. ME!! I'm only 5'5 and female and I get people yelling at me from their cars, i get it on the train and even at games. I've had people do the heckling, jump out in front of me and start yelling....oh gosh you name it. I even stood up up to this one beligerent fat guy in the crowd who wouldn't stop the sledging at Covell. It was just constant!! even when Covell was on the other side of the field.....so....what did I do? I turned around and told jabba the hut to button it. brave? stupid??.....no...just pissed off and sick of hearing this guy go on and on and on about Covell.
So let me make this long story even longer by saying that I think footy is just one of the greatest sports ever (especially if it has someone like me hooked) and Australia has the best players in the game and more specifically Cronulla has the best team in the League. Go Sharkies!!
