Was thinking about some comments and threads on here re comments in the media about sharks future.

What we need is a co-ordinated fight back, much like the effort for supporting the development which reached a wider audience than just this site.

There is no point ringing a radio station or commenting on websites arguing what has been said, this is what they want and feeds the beast.

All public responses should stop IMO other than by the club formally.

We should be targeting the heart of these programs and organisations, THE SPONSORS.

Every time some goose makes an ill-informed comment about why the sharks should die, then there is a barrage of FACTUAL reasons countering the comment sent to the sponsors of the show.

this could be in a pre-worded email or word document with an "insert name of company here"

contained with the facts should be a statement that their product will no longer be supported by the fans of cronulla and the fans will actively comment online about their product in a way similar to the people they support have commented about cronulla, unless the comments are corrected publicly.

facts can contain tangibles such as junior numbers, increase in sponsorship / revenue money, decreased debt, long term viability, infiltration of AFL in the shire etc + intangibles such as 'community suffering with a lack of identity' & 'children have no local hero's' etc

The media V Sharks has been going on for as long as I can remember.

This proves how strong we are, we get knocked down and we get up again.

I don't buy the paper for that reason (except Sunday for the TV Guide), "Footy Show" I don't watch. As for other seat warmers, I don't watch or listen to their shows, again for that reason.

We will always get bagged and in some funny way I believe some maybe jealous,
While they all use the "no money, no fans" etc, other teams have similar issues but we are seen as the poor defenceless club.

Well, we are still here and will be in the future and we can say "we did our way".

To me the best way is to boycott and ignore,

I didn't watch the show, love the big mahns work when talking league. I might of watched it knowing that Gal was going to be on. (that would of been the only reason though).

I like to listen the boys on 2GB on Saturday arvo (Dead Set Legends), great league programme with a bit of comedy.

I'm just a bit worried that the NRL is against us. Think about it, they want to expand, they have at least 5 viable options. Central Coast, 2nd Brisbane team, Perth, PNG and a 2nd NZ team. But the NRL knows they can't support a 19 or a 20 team comp, they might be looking to drop teams from the Sydney region, and with a powerful team like the Dragons nearby, the Sharks might be viewed as expendable by the NRL.

the NRL wants us in the comp big time, but they can't be seen to give us preference over other Sydney clubs.

The only way we will be out of the comp is through our own negligence.

the NRL and AFL both know that the shire will not support the dragons or the league if the sharks are non existent.

Denis Carroll and the Sydney Swans are just waiting for the moment to pounce on our kids..

They probably wont do anything publicly, but you know, they don't need to, there are other ways to undermine us.

Don't be worried they have been against us for some time. We are still here

I am with Tips on this and have been saying the same thing for a long time if the sharks go AFL will be all over the shire the NRL would have a good understanding of this, well you would hope its just the tossers in the media that don't.

I know some people involved in NSW AFL and the shire is the natural extension for the Swans growth plans after they conquer South Sydney (which they all but have already)

the NRL also knows this and it's actually not the NRL that is against the Sharks, in fact if you listen to Gallop's comments on expansion over the last 12 months everything he says is positive and supportive of the sharks without actually naming us..

It is the Politburo of Gould, Gyngell, Politis that want us out and the sooner CH9 loses the rights the better for mine, or saving that, the NRL needs to grow some nuts and stand up to them on behalf of the other NSW clubs.

The Politburo care about themselves first, second and third and the wider rugby league audience is a distant last..

I understand your quote and totally agree 100% and the sooner we have new TV deals etc the better the game will be.

Although you for forgot to mention the piece of chewing gum on the bottom of Gus's shoe, I think he calls it TK.

Sharks fans need to ditch the cathartic bitching and actually do something, no matter how small.

This is essentially our biggest problem. Example. My dad brought me up as a sharks supporters, took me to many, many sharks games over the years but nowadays other then when I pull him to a game once or twice a year (or we make the finals series) he would much prefer to sit at home and watch it on the big screen on foxtel with replays and highlights... With the way we've played the last few years, you can't blame him. But this is the problem.

Sadly it will take a while to turn things around, we have to win games, make the place a fortress again.

Sure what had happened to us over the last 5 years has played a big part in it, (Board issues, coaching dramas, players being told their not required) these things have hurt us and now hopefully we can get things back to they way they were 5 or 6 years ago.

DI and his men are doing a fine job, the coach is building a great side, the players must turn things around.

Hopefully this will mean more supporters to the ground again. So theres no quick fix just everyone has to do their part.

"If you build it, they will come"
