So I just read this from the SMH....
Australia has 76 per cent of the world’s non-casino poker machines (machines in pubs and clubs). Half of these are in NSW.
For a country with a population of ~25m that is unbelievably ridiculous.

Yeah but I'm just thinking of clubs like Tradies who seem to be on the front or back of half the sports + surf clubs in the Shire, without that, the sponsored clubs become even more dependent on grants from local MPs and have to play the politics. There is no similar community funding coming from online betting, except for general gambling taxes. Anyway, sorry I sent this very off-topic I guess.

Scaffolding is starting to come down from the hotel that overlooks the stadium.
Assuming it’s gone by Rd 1 it’s an approvement on aesthetics and a good start.

As I've said before I don't see how you get a return on investment on spending that much on the ground without it being used more.

well you have to use it more in my opinion. i would have thought if you own a venue, you want things at it. if not, why have it at all? especially with the new club coming pmine what next year.
what we have now, a limited capacity small venue with hardly any cover and corporates...eventually, i think they'll have to shift to a better ground (SFS) because they wont be able to compete with the clubs at decent venues in the corporate space.

I know it's not going to make much of a difference but we will have nrlw games there, maybe on days when we don't have an NRL game on so this year it will get slightly more use.

What kind of concerts?
Firstly, the residents would complain about excessive noise.
Secondly, no chance a concert of any size would be held there again from a commercial perspective or geographical perspective.
Sunset cinema. Sure, they could do that but it's not going to generate that much income.
Look I agree, it would be better if it was used more but it's not as easy as you think. Remember we needed a crowd of something like 13k (when the ground could hold ~18-19k) just to break even.
I fear for our future there.

the other thing to ask, is why would any decent band want to play at wooloware?
you got the hordern which is an indoor event and other places in marrickville that are better
unless sydney fc want to bring a game or 2 then it doesnt really need to be used
lets not forget either, the season finishes in october and we go back to training in november, so having a concert the night before a training session would completely **** the field

Yep, plenty of better venues that are better suited geographically.
We also have a pretty good management team in place, no doubt they would have looked at better ways to utilise the ground.
Not as easy as people think.
If Lyle had his way, we'd have an A-League franchise sharing tenancy 
If you look at the future plans of the AFL and NRL, 'boutique' stadiums will play a big part, especially when bums on seats become less valuable to them then tv subscriptions
