That imo would leave us without a good chance of making the finals this year though. I'll still be supporting the club no matter what so I still do want us to go good this season.

Yeah I agree, but I'd still be happy for him. He doesn't deserve this ****.

As for 2019, it will depend how the players respond. They may just be pissed off enough to go really well, but odds are we don't make the 8 regardless of marquee players in the squad.

Last I heard the players are shattered because Flanno was like a mentor & father figure to a lot of the squad over the years so that may just fire a few of the boys up to shut everyone up & support Flanno. Your right though, Shaun Johnson & even Josh Morris don't deserve this on their first year but to me they are crucial members of the squad this year.

Has he been de-registered completely (for good) or just for 2019 season. It’s not clear on the NRL site?

If just 2019 – bring him back for 2020!

"indefinite"

He would have to apply to be re-registered.

I'm feeling a lot of the same anger that others are expressing in this thread, but I'm puzzled about the penalties when I compare them with those handed out to other bad boys.
It sounds like what Flanno and the club did could be described as "giving the finger to the NRL". That has earned an indefinite ban and total fines of $800k.
On the other hand Jack Wighton was convicted of assault; a crime. He got 10 matches and the fine was $30k.

It's no wonder that some players lose their moral compass when the NRL effectively says that some actual crimes arent as big a deal as ignoring its authority.
I'm not challenging the appropriateness of the penalties handed down to Flanno and the Sharks, but the NRL riks making itself look silly (or worse) if it makes a greater issue of its own honour than it does of the physical safety of members of the public.

I kinda get what you're saying but then on the other hands Flanno's wrongdoing was to the NRL so the NRL crack down on it much harder. Wighton's wrongdoing was outside of the NRL so he has a much lesser NRL punishment.
