From RLW:
  • A brick-wall defence provided the platform for Manly's win - even though they missed first-up tackles against the galloping Sorensen brothers, Hatch and McNamara, there was always cover.
  • Mick Stone disallowed four Cronulla tries. One in particular, a pass ruled forward from Nixon to Burke, angered the Sharks fans and coach Greg Pierce. "It looked square enough," said Pierce.
  • Rogers came off with a corked thigh early in the second half.
  • The game was free flowing and full of bruising tackles.
