very happy with the two points though a performance like today's does put a lot into perspective. we may hover around the top of the ladder for most of the season but i think when it comes time to face the more disciplined sides, we're going to get creamed. if we were the class team we all seem to be getting carried away thinking that we are, we would've had things locked up before half time and not ever let them back in. fact is, the Eels were still in it right up until the buzzer; with only a six point lead and just repeatedly handing them the ball back in good field position. Any premiership worthy team would've put us away for that, and if we were solid premiership contenders, we wouldn't have afforded them that chance.

still, it's early days, we got the win. good results to open the season, plenty of room to improve. up.

Nice review Chad, i'm thinking along similar lines. We should have been in front at half time, but a couple of moments of class from Hayne kept them in it. I thought in the 2nd half, our defence really stepped up, and it needed to. Gal was more prominent, seems to be working his way into games lately, instead of of rip, tear, bash straight from the kick off. Graham was great, Robson's defence was strong, Wright was good from the back, the wingers contributed, all the forwards hit hard and hit often, Bukuya was probably MOTM, Smith's defence is just awesome, Pom's hit on Hayne and his try was classic stuff, Best made good metres, Gibbs & Ross are just so honest & hard working, Carney is obviously making a difference this year, the man is just flat out a great player......uuummm, have i left anyone out??

By the way, not sure if anyone saw this but right at the beginning when the players ran out Nathan Hindmarsh ran through the big Shark and none of his team mates followed. Once out in the middle, he turned around to find no one following him and then having a big smile on his face when he realised what he had done! It was very funny!

I play in a band and all the boys had rocked up to my house to lug the gear and I made them wait an extra 10 min until the game was over, I was a wreck by the time we started carrying our stuff ... why can't we have at least one easy win for f***k sake!

Good solid win, but we gave them to many opportunities in the 2nd half and if we do that against teams like Melbourne we will get our arses kicked.

Great win today. To beat Parra was a good effort. They were desperate for a win and we held them out. After last week this was a danger game for us. Pom was awesome as was Smith. I was worried about Smith after last year but this year he is showing me what makes him so good. His cover defence to save that try was all class. While I know it is round 7 I think we can hold our own against the Storm, Brisbane and the Dogs. We will make the 4 based on what has happen so far, so long as injuries are good to us.

Loving being a Sharks fan now. Hope we can keep the streak going against Canberra.

First time posting here, Does anyone know why everytime there is a option to attempt a intercept on our own line we go for it? particularly best and pom seen them do it alot in the pass and seen maybe one or 2 over the last season (may be wrong but the success rate has to be lower then 10%) been happening for a while hasn;t really ever cost us a game but over the duration of the season our biggest enemy has been ourselves we aren't making alot of handling errors but i think we put ourselves under ALOT of extra pressure every week and find ourselves having to defend our own line be that as it may.. we have now won (won now hurrr) 5 on the trot but i think this will become a big issue further down the track (dragons should of scored a few tries just goes to show how over rated soward the piece of **** is)

all in all tho i think we have a few things to work on and the next 2 weeks will show us how serious we are about being gf contenders, the next 3-4 weeks after that could make/break our season.

Goddamn matt wright looked slower then covell on that break tho

watch the wright break again, he is elusively quick, just not the unpredictability and agility of gards that we are used to...

I have no problem with them attempting for the intercept off the line because if they are in a position where they can grab the ball, that means that they are on their attacker defensively, which you need to be up and covering! With that in mind, you'd be dumb not to go for the ball if you could grab it...

Also, I have no problems with players going for the intercept/knocking the ball on in order to save a try, it happens a lot.

yeah gards would be nice unfortunate he couldnt get in position for a pass to a support player but it was promising just looks like his missing a step or 2

Don't think most the time it's to save a try id rather play like we are but without just hanging the arm out when you can personally i'd rather chance it and defend one more tackle rather then risk and take another 6 hasn't hurt us yet so who cares... maybe in the future tho

also bukuya played awesome

well, i can understand your concerns, i do however think that our defence has been very good. i agree we have not been able to put teams away and it has been our defence that has won us games. we were missing 2 key players degois and gardner. we will be better when degois comes back and we may get gardner back around finals time. i think we improve a lot before the end of the season, i think our attack in particular has a lot of improvement in it

Had a great day yesterday. Too many alcoholic beverages. But glad we beat the eels. Hate them with a passion. Was good standing on the hill listen to people's fat jokes to sandow in the 2nd half
