I tried to explain to them that the club was doing everything they could to make things better but the negative talked continued about how the club has got no money and they're doing everything on the cheap and not paying enough attention to the season ticket holders who turn up every game.

This really concerns me and I just hope that there are not many other ticket holders as disgruntled as these guys.

.

Chad , and Gil , take your points , and well constructed too Chad . But these are issues mate , I heard them too , things like this are killing our club . Chad you're in the Burns stand , as am I , how many empty seats on Sat night ? Where were those members this week ? Why id only 7500 fans turn up compard tot he previous game ? OK it was the cows but the way we were playing we should have got more . Whjen you get the members offside , well whats the future goinmg to hold ?

Cutting corners only leads to failure and that applies to any business model

My thoughts exactly.
Now, how come it doesn't seem to cross the mind of the players or coaches.
I'm at a loss... seriously.:(

flanno@sharks.com.au

thats not a correct address bTW - but gee if you can do better feel free to mial the club with your suggestions

BTW

I'm surprised no-one has bagged the refs out after Saturdays game ?

6 penalties in a row to us all deep in Nth Qlds half .

We had 2 exeprienced blowers , possibly as a make up for the previous couple of weeks , yet we still couldnt take advantage of it

The refs aren't telling us to give inside balls and kick the ball to the opposition full back. Refs had an ok game and had nothing to do with our loss and could almost say the same for the week before.

I too get the feeling we have been getting the good side of the penalty count the last few weeks after the Manly debacle. FFS just ref the game as you see it, none of this evenining up - refs making fair in their eyes crap.

At least Wades boot is making a bit more ground off penalties than our havles in previous seasons have...but gotta capitilise!

We lost Gards and AK. 2 of our best players so far this season, that would hurt any side. We missed a playmaker out there, we had Cordoba and Snowden kicking the ball, that says a lot. Who ever we put in to partner Graham needs to be creative, cause Graham isn't at the moment.

The reffs weren't at fault in this game , we just played really poorly , infact the whole night was bad.
They didnt have fireworks , the cheerleaders danced to an old song , preso was run incredibly poorly , even CSSC was quiet.
It was just a really boring game of football , no-one was hyped up.

Expect for watching the fight after the game under the Peter Burns stand.

If you have a pair or those sports ears you listen to what the refs are saying.

Some of the stuff is quite funny.

The comments they say to the players are hilarious also the decision making is weird at times.

You can get them from the Merchandise stand at Shark Park, sorry Caltex Stadium

Actually squiddy I'm in the ET upper stand but you're right, there weren't too many in the Burns stand.

Something else I have noticed though. At the beginning of the season a mate of mine told me he was thinking of buying a season ticket and asked if there were any spare next to me. So I rang the club and asked them to check and after about three weeks they finally got back to me and said that the nearest available seat was five seats to my right and one row down. In fact, that was the only seat available in Bay 31. Now it turned out that my friend was suddenly short of funds and couldn't buy the ticket. So my first thoughts were, wow! the ET upper deck looks like its going to be packed if there is just one seat available in the whole bay. I didn't make the first game against the Dragons, but gave my ticket to the same mate who said the five seats immediate to his left were empty for the entire game. I thought that was strange but I thought maybe the people who had those seats were like me, just couldn't make that one game. But the same seats have been empty for the Manly game and also the Cowboys game. Surely a season ticket holder would not miss the first three home games or be unable to give their ticket to friends. I have not had a chance to ring the club about this but will try to do so this week.

Just seems a bit strange to me

They may have been holding the seats for members from last year. When we renewed this year we needed 3 extra seats for newbies and wanted them next to us, if possible. The membership people took quite a while to get back to us on this because they were waiting for an answer from the people near us on whether they would be renewing or not. This was well past the cut-off date for members to renew but I guess they were just giving the members a bit of extra time.

i think the boys should try a dummy to Gal near the line..... everyone will fall for that.

maybe even a cut out pass, cutting out Gals. Again PERFECT attacking option.

but with how wide gal is playing it doesnt really matter the centre and winger only have ten metres to work in, you cant even use the ball out the back as then you have 3 players in that 10 metres. Gal and toops need to be closer to the action when we attack the line. We need to create room for our centres as both pomm and best have good footwork to create space for themselves or their winger. Then if you gave the ball
out the back as an option to gards he has 20 metres to work in, you could even use gall or toops in the same way melbourne use blair ( now that move creates some space).
Best had the most try assists of any centre last year lests use our strenghts.
For me i would bench toupo and bring in tatui to start to give us some impact off the bench as our bench is mostly toilers. I would have flannagan play 80min at hooker and bring up vave as an impact forward( he has an offload and good footwork at the line) and the other thing is i wouldnt play gall for 80 minutes get him off the field for a little bit so that the team realises it doesnt need him to do all the work.

Take JT and Bowen out of the Cowboys team and we would have won. Take Keating and Barba out of the Bulldogs or Soward and Boyd out of the Dragons. Then take out Payne, Ennis and Young. Would they struggle? Of course they would. Its not a problem that is bloody unique to us for ****'s sake.

The defensive work was poor in the second half, Graham kicked badly but the general effort level was passable. It wasn't great, but it was okay given that we were two men down on the bench.

As for inside balls and bemoaning the amount of ball the forwards got... are you guys serious?? Jeremy Smith was playing 5/8th! What do you expect? Its not like he's equipped with a good long pass. Pomeroy, Collis and Tupou didn't get enough ball because our two main distributors to the backs were sitting on the sideline with ice on their lower legs. Same goes for decoy plays- usually I would agree that its something we need to do more of, but have a think about who does the passing in a decoy plays... have a little think, shouldn't take long, the answer is pretty straightforward... yep, the 5/8th and the fullback. Wait, weren't they injured?? Oh, of course.

That's not to say we dealt with the injuries well. Far from throwing the ball out wide more often, we should have just ploughed up the middle and played error free footy. At half time the first priority should have been to not let the Cowboys score again. We could have chased 18 points or so, but not 30. Then play tough, unglamourous, grinding footy straight up the middle of the park and keep putting pressure on the likes of Aaron Payne and their younger forwards until they broke on their line for a barge over try, and maybe a cross-field bomb.

Next. When we have a **** loss, it doesn't mean we're about to die. Also, when we get a **** crowd, it doesn't necessarily mean the Shire doesn't care. The worst timeslot, dodgy weather, Easter weekend against an interstate team who brought no fans.

If you see that something is wrong, do something about it. Whinging doesn't get you, or the Club, anywhere.

.

Those examples woull strugle of course the woullwould they stilwin ? With the exception of the Cows all those other teams would still win . Few teams really on 2 players .

But your other point about a loss isnt the end of the world is spot on - I think we were specials for a loss last Saturday - we had had the disapointment and frustration of the past couple of weeks where we played very well and were pipped at the post - must be very hard to pick yourself off the floor and back up week after week with that frustration levels. Also the p[ressure on us as favorites takes its toll too .

How will we back up this week under adversity that is the billion dollar question ?? It will really show us what sort of team we have this year .

The crowd comment you made - I disagree - there is a major level of disenfranchment with the Sharks in the Shire - been commented on numerous times , I do agree it was a **** time on a **** day and it had rained , but would only 7500 turned out for the Dragons or Sea Eagles or Panthers or EEls etc

Oh and my comment about the refs was very sarcastic and tongue in cheek

squiddy,
few points members not turning up, i for one was one with my misses due to the fact i live in penrith and had to work until 5pm on easter saturday, made it just in time to flick the tv on, people on this weekend and same as last year go away with kids and having the easter show on being school holidays alot of people do family things over the easter break and having 5 day weekend people would of went away, to ur point on teams not relying on 2 players to win feel free to give an example please start with the melbourne storm, i think having one hooker and 3 forwards on the bench probably didnt help, not that i am questioning what players flanno has on the bench and why, but to lose gards than kelly there is 2 interchanges that were not planned for than who do you put in those key postions, our attack is based around gards and kelly to lose both, no one saw that coming and i am sure flanno will no for future to have a back up plan

In your head, rent free
a gripe about the over security of things :-

yes i was pretty drunk when i got to the game, no doubt, but i called my mate a dick on the way INTO the game and the pigs threatened to kick me out.

my reply was as smart as it could get "what, you ****ed up at the manly game and now your trying to flex a muscle, nice one joker."

this got about 8 bacon smelling **** knuckles giving me and my mate a serve

i spoke this over with a certain sharks employee

just after i had a chat with gil, 6 cops escorted a 14 year old boy for spitting on the grass

FFS, i know there was a lack of policing, but that was ****ing ridiculous

anyway, thats my gripe about how things can go from one extreme to another.

Good to see Jards, Gil, S4E, and SharkyPete.
