- Cronulla found it almost impossible to crack the Wests defence, despite having a tidal wave of penalties (10-0 at one stage). Wests scored all their points before they received a penalty.
- Rogers missed his first four shots at goal.
- The forwards looked cumbersome and unimaginative.
- Hatch scored his first try after the Sorensen brothers worked the play out wide, and the second came from a Haddock bomb.
- Greg Pierce, so disgusted with his team's display, left the dressing room soon after the match without offering a comment.
