- Souths managed to out-batter the Sorensen brothers - the two Kiwi stars were thumped in blockbusting tackles every time they got the ball, by the young Souths pack.
- Cronulla scored first after Wright won the race to a Perry Haddock kick, and Rogers converted from the sideline. But it was all Souths in the second half.
- Rogers was given little opportunity to show his class, but kept looking for action, while Nixon got through a load of defensive work.
