The first set Manly slowed the ruck, hands on the ball all the little tricks. But we could handle it only a few times we ran hard bent the line got a quick play the ball. The test of the time it's like we were content in not fighting for a quick ruck.

Ennis needs these quick play the balls it is the only thing that we got, we can't rely on kick metres.

Manly just took the Melbourne gameplan and slowed us up, really need to learn from this.

6th spot is about right for us, top 4 would be over achieving.

We don't really have a halves pairing that screams contenders.

We have played to our strengths lately and been getting the wins, but in this game we got lost in attack and played 1 out ball.

Only saving grace is that i got on the first scoring play sharks penalty goal at $13 before the game.

Thing is though Greg we didn't need kick metres yesterday. 65% of the game was played in their half, we were tackled 56 times in their 20. If you can't score more than two tries with that kind of ball you have no hope. Forget about the refs.

Waking up I don't feel any of the hippy optimism you all might. I'm still left with a sour taste in my mouth. Premiership winning sides don't lose those type of games. See you all next year.

Yeah mate, I understand that the kick metres didn't mean **** yesterday, more to the point we are a "charge forward" type of side rather than long kick metres. So a slow ruck really hurts us that's our Achilles hell.

We had our chances yesterday and didn't take them simple as that. We played dumb one out stuff to our tried forwards.

Terribly disappointing result yesterday but I truly do not think we played that badly. Manly were kept to two tries, one of them (another) run away intercept against the run of play.

We had five tries disallowed, with a bit of luck, we could have busted this game open but it just wasn't to be. Manly's defence must be given some credit. With nothing to play for, they defended their line time after time (unfortunately).

Whilst our completion rate could have been better, it still wasn't terrible. The rest of the stats we put up yesterday would win you more games than you lose so it's not all doom and gloom.

I find it hard to believe that a team that had close to 70% possession in the first half can still be behind in the penalty count. Manly seemed to get a penalty almost every time they got the ball in that first half. The one that lead to Senne-Lefao's try was a complete farce.

On the other hand, being a part of over 19K at Shark Park was fantastic! The atmosphere at kick off and into the first half was amazing. Unfortunately, Cummins saw to it that the crowd were all but taken out of it in the second half, as we were too busy biting our nails and tearing our hair out...

I am hoping it was "we felt pressure" & that's the reason for a performance that looked like we were deer's mesmerized by the headlights type stuff, seriously, its hard to find anything from that game, so much ball, so much better field position, no injuries that threw our game plan into disarray.

Jeez, you are a so much better fan than me Iron, admittedly over the years I have lost some positive energy towards the Sharks but you have spades of it, kudos to you, imo, we were as horrible as you can get.

C'mon! We weren't that bad! They only scored one soft try and then a lucky intercept from a player whop appeared to be well offside. On the other hand, we had five tries disallowed, a couple of which were 50/50. I'm not writing us off on that.

Really? I thought they were all no tries. Put it this way, if any of them were awarded tries to Manly I would have blown up.

Many thought that footage of the Ennis try appeared to show a split second of the ball on the ground. Also, Holme's try was ruled a "Try" on field and it seemed inconclusive as to whether he knocked on. I'm not saying they should have been awarded, I'm just pointing out we were very unlucky and nothing went our way all game. Yet despite all that, we were ahead with less than ten to go only to be beaten by another freaky intercept, which may or may not have been an offside.

Ennis, yes, I can see an argument, Holmes no way, knocked on, intercept, haven't seen the footage as to whether Horo jumped early, anyone know if any of the players were asking the ref to check?

Val clearly knocked it on, there was no doubt in my mind. I also don't think Ennis got it down.

But like you alluded to, I don't know why they checked Val's try but not Horo's intercept.

We were bumped off heaps of tackles yesterday, just didn't seem to complete a lot of tackles with the first attempt.

Lack of commitment?
