I've been to watch us a couple of times up there and I didn't think it was that good tbh.

Always hard as an away fan cos the cheers will annoy you.

When i was younger i was at the famous dogs/knights game, this was when the eastern side was still a hill. That game had it all and the atmosphere was awesome.

Ive just found its usually 3/4 full, vocal crowd that get right into the game.

Nearing a move to newcastle myself, im actually looking forward to attending more games as a neutral fan, its enjoyable.

I reckon we do alright for a Rugby League team.

Yeah agree, it's more the nature of the game than anything. Far more happens for crowd involvement if something like AFL.

If you're into racially vilifying black people and punching women in the face I can see how the AFL's "crowd involvement" might be appealing.

I actually had soccer in mind when I wrote that first post. I don't think the AFL is really that much better. Crowd size is larger but there are a lot of boring people there.

i've been in it before, titans last year

its in a room full of corporate people, so yeh, you dont get atmosphere

you get free booze and incredible food though

I was there for the Canberra game. I didn't realise there are seats in the Peter Burns stand for people in the Chairman's Lounge to use. I assume the atmosphere might better there, although piping in the crowd noise was a nice touch.

All codes have their bogans mate.

Of course. I don't recall any of our great indigenous players being booed into retirement lately though. Or any Club CEO's comparing them to apes.

My love of an AFL bashing aside for a moment, that code has a massive problem with racism and it is rarely called out by those in charge. The go to seems to be a fluff piece or 2 in the news about how diverse and awesome they are.

They might have a **** game and ****wit fans but their PR machine is 2nd to none.

Rugby doesn't. But then again, Rugby doesn't have anybody.

hahaha can't have bad fans if ya got no fans! Those private school boys always a step ahead.

What's everyone's thoughts on the line up and the game?

If we play like we did in the first half last week for 80mins I think we will get it over them. Either way I think it will be really close. They have a great attacking team so let's see how our defence can hold up. Weather looks good for the game so should be a fast paced dry track.

I'm going to say sharks 25-24 but could be anything.

Yeah you're not wrong with that mate, they certainly are good at getting their message across, whether it's bull**** or not.

Yeah I really don't know what to expect. All depends if good or bad Cronulla decides to show up I guess.

Shi supporting a team so inconsistent. What a dream it would be to support a team like storm. You know what they'll dish up each week lol.

Lol you know what I mean

Lets face it, we're a different team to who won the gf. Who won 15 straight. No barba, no ennis, 2 of our best last year. Add to that the restructure, rookie hooker, val finding his feet at 1. Bird- distracted, Maloney- distracted. Plenty out for origin which probably disrupted us a bit.

Melbourne over the last few years had reminded me a bit of Roger Federer. Played at the same high level all of the time and good enough to get through to the finals but ultimately bumped off by an opponent with a bit more firepower. That analogy doesn't work so well now that Roger has another Grand Slam under his belt though.
