- Kevin Roberts whistled up 29 penalties in a stop-start match. Cronulla ace Steve Rogers took full advantage, landing eight from ten to put the Sharks on the road to victory.
- Rogers also played a part in two of Cronulla's three tries, and was without peer on the field.
- Gardner and Hatch also stood out for Cronulla. Gardner combined with Rogers to put Greg Mullane over for the Sharks' first try in the 55th minute.
- "We'll keep a few teams honest," said Greg Pierce.
