We can make the semis so I would much rather see us give experience to a youngster for next year or let Covell play his last few games with our club. I'd opt for the latter. Fergo has no place in our first grade side after what he has done despite being the best winger in our team.

i though cov got another years extention

Ahem, *points at sig*

haha. I really rate him but don't think he has the potential that Fergo has though. Probably the fastest guy in the team though, is a good defender and tackler and probably the most exciting player in the team along with Gardner so I have not forgotten him!

To Matty Shark: I have been so had no idea Cov may get extended. I thought it may be a possibility with Fergo going tho. I think that's even more reason to keep him in the team then as the more top grade games he plays, the better, in terms of getting back to 100% after his injury.

I'd be happy about re-signing him as our aerial threat would be leaving with Fergo otherwise.

Sharks Go Green For National Tree Day
26/07/2010 3:02:49 PM

The Cronulla Sharks have teamed up with Planet Ark and Toyota to support National Tree Day.

As Australia’s biggest community tree planting event, National Tree Day and Schools Tree Day are responsible for the planting of more than 15 million native trees and shrubs by around two million volunteers over the years.

“It is the simple things that can help make a difference to the environment such as turning off lights around the home, recycling and shorter showers,” coach of the Cronulla Sharks, Shane Flanagan, said.

“Planting a tree is a simple way for communities to do their bit for the environment and it is excellent and admirable that the Sharks have stepped up to lend Toyota a hand with such a great cause,” Manager for Promotions and Events at Toyota, Wayne Gabriel, said.

Round 21 will see the NRL go Green with playing grounds changing their grass signage to project National Tree Day’s message.

The Sharks will don green socks for their game against the West Tigers at Leichhardt Oval in Sydney. They will also be lending a hand at local tree planting events on Friday 30 July and Sunday 1 August.

“National Tree Day, supported by Toyota, is another simple and easy way you can make a difference,” Paul Gallen said.

“Everyone should get together with their friends from school, sporting club or family and plant a tree to do your bit this National Tree Day.”

To find out more about National Tree Day and to get involved please visit http://toyota.com.au/treeday or visit your local participating Toyota Dealership.

If Tim Smith does get the chance to play (I personally think he needs to play some NSW Cup) then he better be better than he has been. Fine with the rest of the team.

SHEENS NAMES TEAM TO PLAY SHARKS IN RD 21
27/07/2010 8:14:51 PM

Wests Tigers Coach Tim Sheens has named his team to play Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks at Leichhardt Oval on Saturday, July 31, in round 21 of the Telstra Premiership.

As part of the club’s Back to The 80s theme, three great games of rugby league will be played on the day. Gates open at 2.45pm.

The action starts at 3pm when joint competition leaders Balmain Ryde Eastwood Tigers tackle Windsor Wolves in the NSW Cup.

At the completion of the NSW Cup, Wests Tigers tackle the Cronulla Sutherland Sharks in round 21 of the Toyota Cup at 5.15pm. Wests Tigers will be looking to get their finals aspirations back on track with victory over the Sharks.

At 7.30pm, fourth placed Wests Tigers will be looking to return to the winners circle and take another step closer to qualifying for the finals when they tackle the Sharks.

The match will be the first time Sharks hooker John Morris and centre Dean Collis come up against their former club in a premiership match since leaving Wests Tigers at the end of last season.

Tickets are now on sale at Gearzone Concord, Loftus Street, Concord Oval, and at Gearzone Campbelltown, Brands On Sale outlet, 32 Queen Street, Campbelltown, or by ringing 1300 12 10 12
