From RLW:
  • The first Sharks try came when Greg Mullane took an intercept from Garry Hughes and ran seventy metres. The second when Steve Rogers kicked ahead and bustled two Canterbury players before regathering to score.
  • Rogers missed his second conversion, but was rewarded an 'action replay' because Mortimer waved his hands to distract Rogers. Rogers landed the second attempt to level the scores, with only fifteen minutes left.
  • Howver, Steve Gearin kicked a 40-metre penalty goal with five minutes remaining to win the game for the Bulldogs.
