They were woeful.

I wish so much that Gards could go and play another NYC game, just so that people would see him dominate and score 4 tries and then shut the **** up about Pickerd being a better option at fullback.

They are really missing Townsend, Peachey and Friz.

No one would score 4 tries playing in that team, yesterday was a disgrace, 5 hit ups for a bomb, 4, 6, cannot tackle, all forwards looked physically inferior, the bench players were the smallest kids I've seen in 20's and every time they moved the ball (which was about 7 times in the game) it was sideways garbage. 1 time they threw a short ball to a straight runner (4) he went through, they had no direction what-so-ever and couldn't hold the ball to save their lives. 2 tries off charge downs? lifting tackle penalties on the last tackle? and the 9 well... It was gross.

Definitely missing Frizell, Peachey and Townsend!
Perhaps the huge publicity and wraps the Sharks 2012 NYC players are getting the last few weeks from their coach James Shepherd via local newspaper (Sutherland Shire Leader) has gone to their heads? Coach Shepherd seems to have his "favourites" when it comes to selections and/or surnames to use for publicity . Agree with pickanuts' comment re: smallest 20's players ever seen. The four bench players - Rodgers, Morris, Clarke and Pittman all smaller than the Knights 5/8 !!!!!
Couldn't believe the size of the interchange front rower Michael Morris!!!! and the starting #11 Jackson Cartwright is way out of his depth both physically and defensively. Is Joel Tubbs injured or did he play nsw cup???? Surely we have better forwards than Cartwright and Morris (both year young)????? Morris great young kid and very fit but pleeeeeease! a front rower? Dylan Hill (prop/ 2nd row) had a good season last year so hopefully when he returns from his knee reconstruction the forwards may have a better chance to match it physically with opposition packs. I read somewhere we also have Sione Masima (2nd row) out for 8 weeks with a knee injury. Hopefully both can play this year. Viiga (10), Coates (8) and Hasson (12) can't be expected to cover for the defensive lapses of the smaller, younger players all season. Seems to be several players struggling with second year syndrome while Raru (13), Walsh (6) and Penani (7) played like they had been on the drink the day before!!!! As for Lichaa (9) he's a good player but maybe he was out with some of the others the day before? In saying that you are only as good as the players running off you. Matiatonga (wing) trained with NRL squad over summer but didn't get involved much. In saying all that it is only round two but based on yesterday's performance surely a few changes will be made and the team might have an opportunity turn it around.

Definitely missing Frizell, Peachey and Townsend! No ****........ but don’t blame the players, coach James Shepherd can not motivate his players, This was the same problem when he coached lower grade footy. He was negative and destructive then and it appears nothing has changed. He does have his "favourites" always did when it come to selections nothing has changed and it appears to be part of the reason the team gets rolled in the early exchanges. He has a policy of selecting LOCAL Juniors ... Yes Locals Talent over any others and he needs to rethink this policy. Fans need to look at the trial games and the players who performed and ASK why these players cant even make the bench when you have a starting #11 Jackson Cartwright who as you say is “way out of his depth” and needs to be sent back to park footy for a while. As far as your derogatory comment about the four bench players (Only being there for their name get real you idiot), you are a fool have a look at the replay. Two of the four bench players played better then some of the starting side. Rodgers was pushed all over the park by Shepherd backs, 2nd row and hooker. Like i have said in the past on SF this young player if given a chance at hooker does a fantastic job organising the team, running plays and he can kick in general play and goals from all over the park. His defence is good.

I agree with you last comment. “In saying all that it is only round two but based on yesterday's performance surely a few changes will be made and the team might have an opportunity turn it around.”

I agree with you about Rodgers' ability/potential and I agree that he was forced to play out of his best position on Sunday. I too found it absurd that he was forced to play in the backs and second row when he is clearly a half/hooker. As for me being an "idiot" for saying the four bench players were only selected because of name I cannot find anywhere in my previous post where I stated the four bench players were only there because of name.
I agreed with a previous post re: the "physical size" of our bench players and made particular reference to the fact we had no interchange "front rower" on the bench. Can you shed any light on why Tubbs didn't play? Was he called to NSW cup or injured? As for your comment about the coach favouring "locals", as far as I am aware there were nine born and bred locals in the eighteen selected for Rnd 2 ( Pickerd, Rasmussen, Moroko, Hasson, Coates, Lichaa, Cartwright, Morris and Pittman). Of course there are several other "locals" courtesy of the Endeavour Sports High Rugby League Program.

Unfortunately for Cameron Rodgers he has Michael Lichaa ( 2011 NSW U/18's hooker / Sharks NRL summer squad ) to compete with for the number 9 jersey. Hopefully Rodgers won't be expected to play prop next game even though I am sure he would give his all!

Nice discussion, wasn't wrapped when they moved the NYC post back to the other forum but oh well, I agree about this coach I was worried about him last year when he had a very talented squad and didn't get enough out of them and now, with a squad that obviously needs development and actual coaching on how to play football, he is waaaayy out of his depth. Put simply he is a complete myth.

This time next year lichaa will be right in the mix for a top grade bench spot, he is living up to his potential. Hopefully nesi can start to do the same but it has been a slow start for him.

Good to see rea get a game, he is a natural centre and needs to start.

Today's local newspaper (LEADER) has a report from NYC Coach James Shepherd re: last weekend's loss. Coach singles out Michael Morris for special praise. Lichaa voted Players' player.

He got them to the game before the grand final. That team was not as talented as either of the grand finalists.

You can smell the agendas from a mile away in this thread.
