There should be a rule introduced where if a player is claiming to have scored a try then the ref must instantly refer it to the video ref no questions ask. There are plenty of sports (tennis, cricket) where if a player questions a decision they have to look at it again. I dont care about the 50/50 calls (even if it does seem its more 80/20 with us lol) but I was watching the game on tv and i thought it was a try even before seeing the replays. But yeah I really enjoyed watching that game, its a pity they got those last 2 tries but man I reckon next year we are going to be a force to reckon with if we can keep up with perfomances like that (obviously with more work on attack) and I mean who knows maybe we can scrape into the finals this year

What does everyone think of the NFL stye rule where a team can dispute 2 calls per game? Much like in tennis, a team gets a couple of opportunities to refer a decision. If there were only 2 per side it wouldn't slow the game down and teams would have the responsibility for those obviously bad calls placed back on them. I personally think it's overdue.

IMO they should have a system where you can make unlimited calls like that, but if they review it and you were wrong then the other team gets a penalty.

So people would be reluctant to do it except in cases where it really needs to be done. For example we would have done it yesterday for the Gallen try and the Gardner strip.

The Gardner strip resulted in a scrum so there would have been plenty of time for the captain or coach to call for a review. With Gallen he could have laid on the ground and refused to get up until it was checked. I don't know why he didn't do it on the day to be honest. He should have just refused to get up!

I agree with both of those ideas, I dont care how they work it they just have to do something, what if that was a finals match or a grand final

ah right, hadley was blowing up a dust storm, question why archer was the number 1 ref in the game when he makes calls like that, reckons he will cost someone a finals spot, origin game or grand final one day. a caller called up a program this morning and reckons harrigan gave the try that creagh knocked on and was off side and archer gave us a hard time as we were to close to the dragons with 10 to go. he was a stains fan. i agree with him

I've got this game recorded, and keep getting interrupted each time I want to watch it.

From what I've seen, this game was dominated in the horizontal lines by the Dragons.

Regardless of whether they were offside or not, the Dragons repeatedly advanced their defensive line, and we (aside from some very good dummy half scoots) accepted that tone. It wasn't the Dragons that gave us no room to move, It was us that allowed them to dictate the play and the advantage line... Whilst we had the ball!!!

I've always been a fan of deep attacking backlines, and it has been so long since we've seen it here.

I've never been a fan of Ricky Stuart as a coach, but I don't hold him accountable for this per se. We lost this game because we do not have an on field offensive leader.

In essence, the boys put up a fundamentally strong performance, and I honestly reckon that at half time, an absolute class coach like Wayne Bennett knew that 2 Sharks tries in the second half was enough.

The blow out at the end was a result of Wayne Bennett. The Dragon's game plan was never overtly challenged, and they consequently never had to worry about what we were doing.

FFS... They are chokers, and we didn't even attempt to put our hands around their neck...

A deep attacking backline would have taken the game to them, rather than them bringing their game to us.

With due respect to those that play and coach the game, the full on defensive intensity that the Sharks displayed in this game worked to our detriment when playing an obviously far weaker opposition (Cowboys, Round 16).

Our forwards ****ing rip... We just don't have the same beauty in our backline... Yet ;).

DRAGONS BLOG: 'No try' drama no big deal
28-Jun-2010
Glen Humphries

Another week, another ‘‘no try’’ drama in a Dragons game.

Last weekend it was Sharks fans blowing up because they thought Paul Gallen had been denied a try when he should have actually been pinged for a double movement.

In fact, it was such a clear-cut double movement, I wouldn’t be surprised if they used footage of it at referee’s school from now until the end of time.
