I don't think there is a rule that the ball has to be kicked off the tee?

Maybe you're technically right mate but not much can be done about it now. The NRL aren't going to take the game off Melbourne so no point in discussing it I guess.

Yeah from what I can see it should have been our penalty.

The rules state:

The ball may be kicked in any manner and in any direction and is immediately in play.

**** resting Maloney. If he's pissing off at the end of the year I'll drive him at 100km in 2nd gear.

Anyway, it was "the loss we had to have". I'm actually not that fussed.

Not to do it for Maloney, to do it for the team. He looked a bit slow to me and in need of a week off. The team would have been better with some extra energy and a running threat in their instead.

I rate Maloney and want him in our team long term. But even the Cronk's and Smith's need a rest sometime to stay at their best.

Fair enough. I wouldn't have picked this game though, unless he had a specific injury. I'd prefer our best team in this game. If we won we'd go to the top (equal or outright depending on score). Now with a loss we go back to the pack a bit.

Still filthy at the loss last night. We were ahead on almost every stat last night. Shouldn't have let that soft try in at the end. Maybe we need to be on the opposite end of the stats to win games

That start though... Newcastle like..

I remember how painstakingly close that kick was in the last seconds. Well, if we're paying peanuts, we deserve a monkey.....

the storm player that tackled Fifita saved them the game,
if Fifita got through he would have drawn the winger in and Bukuya scores in the the corner.

If if if. We were very lethargic, very average.

That can sometimes happen after a bye.

Agreed. As BWB and 2010 said earlier in the game thread, no excuses with or without Cronk.
I know people were blowing up about the refs but we got heaps of penalties and did nothing with them.

We peppered their line and most times came away with nothing.
The opening 10-15 minutes was the worst football we have played in two years.
