Mako Shark
From RLW:
- Beckett's slashing scrum domination provided the springboard to the Sharks' win and indeed their charge up the ladder.
- Newtown stole the march on the Sharks with a 58th minute intercept try to Ray Blacklock, chased 70m by Rogers.
- Cronulla regained the lead in the 66th minute when Rogers placed a delicate chip for Perry Haddock, who ducked through to dive on the ball in the Jets' in-goal.
- Forrest played the blindside in the last minute of the match to put Mick Mullane over in the corner.
- Greg Mullane and Jim See had strong games.
- Williams topped the tackle count, and formed a near impregnable front row with Sorensen and Beckett.
- Haddock was everywhere and more than matched his more illustrious rival Ken Wilson.
