Agreed.

He'll get the full time gig at FB next year and maybe just maybe transition to 6 in his mid-late 20's but i cant seem him becoming a 7.

Val does seem to have tactical awareness and composure, but me personally I like a more traditional 7.

Holmes reminds me a lot of a young Darren Lockyer.... and he was fullback in his earlier years before shifting to five-eighth

What do you have in mind with Bird on the bench?

Personally I see carrying a back on the bench as a waste of a bench position. They should be playing the whole game. We have just freed up a bench spot by getting an 80 minute hooker and it shouldn't be squandered. Bird should either be picked in his own right or not at all.

Well our bench option just did his ACL. Unless someone wants to throw Gardner in there i dunno what the bench make up will be

My round 1 team prediction;

Flanno could pick names out of a hat and come up with a better squad than his old mate Ricky.

Atleast everyone is in the mix it seems, perform or be replaced. I see this as a real positive.

Now I want to start this post by saying the following is only a what if. Ok.

What if Blake Ashyford plays in the NRL like he did at the 9's - is he in your side? He looked to be a different player altogether at the 9's even taking into account he had a decent go at it last year.

Yeah sure ayshford had a great tournament but it was his defence that was his weakness. Nrl is about defence, I've watched a few replays of sharks 9s games and thought Beale was a bit suss making a couple of 1on1 tackles.

If ashysford can force his way into the team goid luck to him.. The one we witness the last few seasons won't maybe this new trimmer version has more to offer, not going to hate on the bloke but I'm sure I can rd all one year at the Tigers ge was awsome

IMO Beale needs to defend next to Gagan or Feki and not Holmes if he plays on the wing. ( I also wouldn't place Barba next to him in the defensive line.

Yeah true every player deserves another chance he got plenty last year. Definitely looks trimmer hope he shows his worth this season. Interesting battle looming for center spots, people saying feki at centre but I honestly think he's a damaging wing for us and our best by far. Centre will change the whole dynamics for him and he'd have to learn more defensive work and distribution lines. Bird love his mongrel I'd have him close to the action as a forward just needs to bulk up but that'll come, hes in the gallen/greg bird, utility on the bench or as hooker now nu is out..

Yeah, that's the advantage if Beale plays left centre and Bird plays right, Beale can then can defend on the side of Wade, Robbo and Feki.

Beale's been training at right centre I think. If Barba also defends there it might be a bit suss.

Guess we can probably take Lewis out of any Rd 1 teams. Worst signing ever for how much we paid.
