Dammit, checked the Fox guide and it looks like they're broadcasting the Sea Eagles / Warriors NYC game instead of ours.

That's bull**** we are the fox game so should get the 20's one before hand. I know the warriors won last year but it doesn't matter.

Good looking team.

I'm predicting another good year from our guys. If the halves stand up, perhaps even as good or even a game better than last year.

That side has the makings of a better backline and I think there will be more size and depth in the pack. Obviously Peachey is a big loss in particular but there's so much quality there.

Really liked James Shepard's piece in the Leader. Says he's looking for leadership from the guys who trained fulltime (Pickerd, Lichaa, Mataitonga, Coates, Viiga) and that the likes of Rasmussen, Tubbs, Raru, Moroko and Hasson have had great offseasons. They're pretty much our best players apart from Masima and the halves, so good signs.

Also bodes well for the future- I'm very interested to see if the two young wingers in particular can put some pressure on the first graders. Rasmussen is 195cm and Mataitonga is 189cm, both with pace and great builds for modern wingers.

Be prepared to see Tyrone Viiga shine as one of the most lethal front rowers in this year's NYC competition.

Dunno... I saw him at the Season launch and was astounded by how much meat (not fat) he's put on.

190cm & 111kg?

And the rest!

Bloody big unit and from what I've seen he's a freight train.

... and he is only 19!

We have a bit of everything in our NYC team. Everything we need to make a succesful team. I would be very surprised if we didnt make the 8. Barring injuries to our main contributers I think we will finish top 4.

Penani/Walsh are a superb combo in the halves with Penani providing the flair and attacking potency and Walsh being the calm head that makes smart decisions. Our pack is big. Coates/Viiga/Tubbs are all big metre eaters and can provide a platform for the halves to work from. Hasson is a great line runner and Raru provides versatility at lock where he can run good lines and also posses good ball playing skills before and during the tackle.

Pickerd is a great support player at the back and chimes in of offloads every now and then for a potential line break. His express pace will beat most to the tryline in NYC. Rasmussen/Mataitonga are both very tall wingers that once were fullbacks. Great in the air and will provide a good aerial attack for our halves to kick towards. As far as our centres go both are uproven in the this position. Moroko was solid on the wing last year and from what I've seen of DJ Lokeni Purcell he was a big barnstorming 2nd rower that has transformed into a centre. He reminded me of Frank Paul Nuaasala, so DJ could be very destructive out wide running at the smaller backs.

Yeah he looks like he has what it takes to be a top NYC prop this year and I really hope to see it.

I am really surprised to see raru at lock. Last year he looked to be comfortably the biggest in the team and didn't really look like a lock but a big front rower, will be good to see how he goes.

pickerd
nesi
walsh
penani
lichaa

are going to be stars of the comp this year.

nesi and lichaa in particular have still got two years left and are going to be up there with the next big things coming out of this comp soon. I hope we see nesi get a crack at centre at some stage. He is an out and out fullback but he has got all the size to play in the centres and we know we are lacking in that area.
