- Kurt Sorensen shattered the Tigers with his power running, and Steve Rogers picked up exactly where he left off last year. Kurt ripped Balmain apart in a devastating period in the second half. With the match apparently edging away from Cronulla he intervened dramatically. Power-plus tries in the 55th and 59th minutes got the Sharks into top-gear, and sent them on to a comfortable win. When the big Kiwi is in that sort of mood, he's just about unstoppable.
- Rogers put the cream on the cake for Cronulla with one try and five goals.
