Lets put it in comparison to how many tackles he actually does against ones that were missed, i think you'll find that this stat may then look a little different

Yeh, I think he makes more tackles attempts than any other halfback, hence the increased misses.

And he's usually leading the kick-chase from his own kicks, chasing down fullbacks who can be pretty slippery.

well considering how much work you see him do in defence, im not suprised that he misses that much tackles.

kimmorleys defence is fine, hes going great although i sometimes wonder if he could do less defence maybe his attack would improve. got to give it to him though, he has heart and hes worn the cronulla badge proudly since day 1, hes a hearty player and i kinda feel sorry for the bloke with all these rumours and sh*t going on

he misses alot of tackles on the fullbacks when he chases up his kicks but he slows them down n someone else gets them straight away

His total missed tackles is 43. Over 7 games that averages out to about 6-7 a game. I can't find a stat that'll give me his total attempted tackles, but he's made 64 kicks in his 7 games, so considering he's always leading the chase on those and consequently attempting the first tackle, even taking out the rest of the tackle attempts he'd make through a game I'm confident that 43 missed is VERY minimal when put in comparison with the amount of tackles he attempts to make. For the record his total successful tackles is 138, 19 of which were 1-on-1.

If there is such thing as a 'tackle teacher' I don't think we need to employ one for Brett.

In conclusion; Corey94 your an idiot who should have his thread making rights revoked and be charged some sort of oxygen tax because not only are you a thief of oxygen, but what you steal is put to waste. You must be a flatulent little son of a b!tch because its evident none of this air makes it to small amount of gray matter you may or may not posses. Hurry up and die.

but you make a good point on how compared to the ammount of tackles he attempts and misses, its only minimal and he has one of the best techniques in league for a little man

Good thread Corey94, I love a chance to discuss a player's stats, though I disagree with your interpretation of them.

Just to back up Capital Shark's good analysis of those figures, 43 missed tackles compared to 138 made gives Kimmorley a missed tackle percentage of ((43/(138+43)x100)=24%. Just to compare, his rate last year was a little better at 17%, but I agree with Capital Shark that his kick chase this year has been fierce which will add a little to the missed tackles. Also, even though he was injured a bit last year he has already attempted about half as many tackles as he did last year, only 6 games in.

Last year, 17% was about normal for halfbacks, and his current 24% would have been on the bad side for halves last year, similar to the other halback liabilities in the game such as Orford (22%), Thurston (23%) and Prince (24%). I would love to see how making an attempt on fullbacks affects your missed tackle %, but I'm not sure I can find stats for that- but the conclusions of the others in that regard are certainly born out by fullbacks and then wingers dominating last years stats of line breaks and tackle busts made per run.

not in the shire anymore :(
So Prince has a really high missed tackle percentage, but he's ripping up and his team are top of the table.

Who needs Barrett? We should sign him now.

Read in the daily telegraph stats today, he averages 21 tackles a game the next closest is like 13.

He leads stats 83% finding the grass, the next best is 71% & 63%.

I think Corey94 to sum it all up, you are a load your mother should of swallowed!
